The long-awaited Volkswagen T-ROC SUV made its India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company has already confirmed that the SUV will be launched in April 2020. Adding to it, official bookings of the new SUV has also been commenced. Not just T-ROC, Volkswagen will also launch the Tiguan AllSpace 7-seater SUV in April 2020.

The Volkswagen T-ROC SUV will be brought via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. Upon its launch, the SUV will challenge the likes of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. It will only be offered in the single fully-loaded variant, which is expected to be priced around Rs 18 lakh – Rs 20 lakh.

For the Indian market, the Volkswagen T-ROC SUV is available with petrol engine only. It gets a 150bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In terms of proportions, the T-ROC is slightly smaller than most of its contemporaries. The SUV measures measuring 4234mm in length, 1819mm in width and 1573mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2603mm and offers a boot space of 445-litres. By folding the rear seat, one can increase its cargo volume up to 1290-litres.

The International-spec VW T-ROC comes with a ground clearance of 130mm, though India-spec model will have a ground clearance of over 150mm. In India, the T-ROC SUV will sit between the Tiguan 5-seater SUV and the upcoming Taigun mid-sized SUV. Featuring crossover-ish profile, the SUV is wider and shorter than the Tiguan. Volkswagen T-Roc Launch Date

The Volkswagen T-ROC is based on the VW Group’s MQB versatile platform, which also underpins the Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming Skoda Karoq. The front fascia of the car features the signature grille with thin headlamps that are wrapped around the front fenders. The LED daytime running lamps and cornering lamps are placed lower on the bumper. Adding to it, the T-ROC gets prominent trapezoidal-shaped cooling duct and a silver coloured kick plate.

The side profile of the Volkswagen T-ROC looks sporty, featuring larger wheelbase and flared wheel arches. There is a strong shoulder line that runs across the length to merge the rear profile. Volkswagen has introduced the top-spec variant, which has chrome elements all around the body. Chrome element can be seen on the side of the roof that runs from A-pillar and ends before the wide C-pillars.
