Toyota C-HR Crossover Spotted Testing In India

In India, Toyota might introduce the C-HR compact crossover with a hybrid powertrain.

In bid to strengthen its market, Toyota is considering to bring in the C-HR compact crossover-SUV in the Indian market. While the launch of the vehicle might happen sometime in 2020 or 2021, its test mule was recently spotted testing on the outskirts of Bangalore. The spotted model appears to be the hybrid version packed with a 1.8-litre petrol and electric motor delivering a combined power output of 122bhp.

Based on Toyota’s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, the C-HR sports a bold design language and futuristic styling and looks different from other crossovers. The front end of the car is accentuated by sharp LED headlamp design and air intakes, aggressive bumper with a wide central air dam, small LED fog lamps and muscular lines on the bonnet. The angular creases continue on the side profile and merge with the pronounced wheel arches underbody plastic cladding, sporty alloy wheels and coupe-like slopping roof. Round the back, the crossover gets angular wraparound taillamps, well-sculpted hatch door, faux skid plate, massive rear bumper with a large plastic cladding and roof spoiler. Check Out – Upcoming Toyota Cars In India

Proportionally, the Toyota C-HR crossover measures 4,360mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,640mm. Toyota claims that the compact crossover offers a boot space of 370-litres, which is 70-litre more than the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Interior, too, has been designed with futuristic approach. It gets asymmetrical dashboard with simple and neat layout. It gets a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with improved HMI (Human Machine Interface) with Toyota’s Multi-media navigation system and better connected services. Features such as premium leather upholstery with piano black and satin silver trims on the doors, a JBL audio system with 9 speakers and heated seats are also on offer. In India, the Toyota C-HR will take on the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass. Prices of the crossover are likely to fall in the range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh.
