Toyota Kirloskar, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker, previewed seven new models at the recently-concluded Auto Expo 2018. While the Yaris premium sedan was the major highlight of Toyota’s pavilion, the new Alphard luxury MPV and Land Cruiser Prado also galore visitors’ attention. While Cruiser Prado has already been launched, new Yaris sedan and Alphard MPV will soon mark their entry in the Indian market. Besides this, the carmaker has a handful of new products that will hit our shores in coming years. Upcoming Toyota Cars In India
Japanese automaker, Toyota is working on a sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. This model will be based on Maruti Vitara Brezza. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki signed a partnership last year in India. Maruti Suzuki will supply Vitara Brezza and Baleno premium hatchback to Toyota. It is expected that Toyota will re-style this SUV, and will come at slightly higher price.
The new model is likely to receive several design changes in-line with other Toyota cars in India. It is expected to get new exterior and more premium cabin with high-end features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and others.

Among all the upcoming Toyota cars slated to launch in 2018, 2019, this is probably the most expensive of all. Previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Toyota Alphard premium MPV will be brought to India as CBU unit. In Toyota’s India line-up, Alphard will be slotted above Innova and receives additional equipment over its sibling. That said, the hybrid MPV comes with a host of features including panoramic sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, sliding doors operated by a button, new-gen Toyota Safety Sense P safety suite, ABS with EBD, TCS, VSC, EPS, etc. Its three-row layout is good enough to accommodate 7-8 adults. Exterior design is quite aggressive featuring LED headlights and taillights with LED sequential turn indicators, sporty large grille, LED fog lamps and 18-inch alloys.
Power source on the hybrid MPV is likely to include the 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine from the Camry hybrid. This unit makes maximum power of 157.7bhp against 213Nm torque. Transmission duties are expected to be carried out by a 6-speed auto box supported by an electric four-wheel drive system.

3. Toyota Rush
The fourth model on our list of upcoming Toyota cars is the Rush compact SUV. Aiming to tap premium compact SUV space, the Japanese carmaker is considering the Rush for the Indian market. In this space, the new Toyota SUV will lock horns against the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. This 7-seater SUV shares most of its design bits with the Daihatsu FT concept that was previewed at the 2015 GIIAS. While the front fascia of the car has been adorned by new black finish grille, L-shaped DRLs, a hexagonal radiator grille and blackened fog lamps, the side profile looks sporty with black plastic cladding, bold creases and chromed door handles. It also gets LED taillamps and stop lamp along with sporty rear spoiler and bumper with reflectors.
The Rush offers a spacious and practical interior loaded with several comfort and connectivity features. The list of features includes a 7.0-litr touchscreen with weblink and Miracast capabilities, automatic climate control, new dashboard design with beige trims, etc. On the safety front, the SUV gets ABS with EBD, six airbags, VSC, hill start assist and other active and passive safety fitments. Under the skin, expect Rush to come with 1.4-litre diesel engine sourced from Corolla Altis, though we still await information to be revealed officially on the mechanical front.

4. Toyota Baleno-based premium hatchback
It was speculated that Toyota will launch the Yaris premium hatchback in the Indian market. However, latest development confirmed that the company will introduce a premium hatchback based on the Maruti Baleno. Like the Brezza, Maruti will supply Baleno to Toyota. Japanese automaker is expected to restyle the Baleno before launching it in the Indian market.

5. Toyota CHR
The CH-R crossover is surely one of the much-awaited upcoming Toyota cars in India. It will be a 5-seater premium SUV that will take head-to-head against the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Designed on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, this compact SUV is reported to come with a smaller 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This gasoline unit pushes out power worth 113bhp against 184Nm of torque. On the other hand, the hybrid version derives its power from a 1.8-litre TSI unit paired to an electric motor. This hybrid motor is expected to put out combined power of 168bhp with 305Nm torque. Besides, a 148bhp, 2.0-litre petrol unit could be used in the top-spec variant. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a CVT gearbox. The SUV will be packed with a bunch of features such as a large 8.0-inch infotainment system, smart entry system, JBL audio system with 9 speakers etc.

Another hybrid on our list of upcoming Toyota cars is the new-generation Camry hybrid that was officially previewed at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new-gen Camry will be built on Toyota’s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture), and will receive prominent changes for a more premium look. Besides, the more will get dimensional changes and will pack in a raft of safety as well as comfort tech. That said, expect the new-gen Camry to come with 10 airbags, a standard backup camera, electronic vehicle stability control, ABS, traction control, brake assist etc. For power generation, the new Camry will get a new 3.5L V6, a new 2.5L and new generation Toyota Hybrid system. These engines will be paired to a new Direct Shift-8AT gearbox.
