Toyota Kirloskar, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker, previewed seven new models at the recently-concluded Auto Expo 2018. While the Yaris premium sedan was the major highlight of Toyota’s pavilion, the new Alphard luxury MPV and Land Cruiser Prado also galore visitors’ attention. While Cruiser Prado has already been launched, new Yaris sedan and Alphard MPV will soon mark their entry in the Indian market. Besides this, the carmaker has a handful of new products that will hit our shores in coming years. Toyota India is all set to foray into the mid-size sedan segment with the Yaris that was recently showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. The same model is already retailed in the overseas markets including Thailand (as Yaris Ativ) and Singapore (as Vios). In terms of styling, the sedan takes cues from the new Corolla Altis and Camry. Some of the key highlights include a large radiator grille with horizontal slats, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs, fog lamps, 16-inch alloys, sloping roofline and wraparound tail lamps.
The Yaris offers several segment-first features such as 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, tyre pressure monitoring system, seven airbags (standard), etc. To be available in two variants, the Yaris sedan has dual-tone interior loaded with advanced comfort, connectivity and safety features. Power for the saloon will come from a 1.5-litre petrol engine that’s good enough for 105bhp at 6,000rpm and 140Nm at 4,200rpm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT.

Japanese automaker, Toyota is working on a sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. This model will be based on Maruti Vitara Brezza. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki signed a partnership last year in India. Maruti Suzuki will supply Vitara Brezza and Baleno premium hatchback to Toyota. It is expected that Toyota will re-style this SUV, and will come at slightly higher price.
The new model is likely to receive several design changes in-line with other Toyota cars in India. It is expected to get new exterior and more premium cabin with high-end features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and others.
