Top Upcoming New Cars/SUVs By 2021 Diwali – Expected Prices

With the festive season just around the corner, car manufacturers are ready to launch several new and updated models in the market. We witnessed multiple new car launches in July and August, and the next 2-3 months will be no different either as festive season will be here. Here’re top new car/SUV launches, which are slated to hit showrooms by 2021 Diwali.

New-Gen Maruti Celerio

The 2021 Maruti Celerio is inches closer to the market launch. Its unofficial bookings have already been commenced and the model was recently spotted during its TVC shot. The hatchback has more angular stance with significantly updated exterior and interior. This time around, it will come with the WagonR’s 83bhp, 1.2L petrol engine along with the existing powertrain. Prices of the new-generation Celerio are likely to start from Rs 4.50 lakh onwards.

Hyundai i20 N Line

Hyundai i20 N Line Launch Date

The South Korean automaker has confirmed that the Hyundai i20 N Line will make its India debut on 24th August and its launch will happen in September 2021. It will come in three variants (N6 iMT, N8 iMT and N8 DCT) and 1.0L turbo petrol (120bhp/172Nm) engine. Compared to the standard model, the hot hatch will offer sportier exhaust sound and better suspension performance. It’s likely to be priced around 12 lakh for the entry-level variant in India.

Kia Seltos X-Line

Kia Seltos X-Line, the sportier version of the Seltos SUV, is ready to hit roads in September 2021. Just so you know, the model made its first public appearance at the 2020 Auto Expo. It gets cosmetic enhancements over the standard Seltos including gloss black treatment, dark chrome and a Matte Grey paint scheme. Interior might also come with the sportier blacked-out treatment. No changes will be made under the hood. The Seltos X-Line will be priced premium over the regular model that costs between Rs 9.95 lakh – Rs 17.65 lakh.

Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen Taigun Launch Date

The German automaker has confirmed that its first SUV under its India 2.0 project will arrive in the third week of September 2021. Called the Volkswagen Taigun, the model shares its MQB A0 IN platform with the Skoda Kushaq. In fact, its most of design elements, components and engine setup will be similar to its cousin. The Taigun will be offered with the 115bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 150bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine options. It could be priced as low as Rs 10.50 lakh and the top-end variant might cost around Rs 17 lakh.

MG Astor

MG Astor India Launch

The upcoming Astor SUV will be MG’s answer to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq. It will be the brand’s first car to underpin the Concept of Car as a Platform (CAAP) architecture. Under the hood, the SUV might feature a 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine with mild hybrid system. Its power and torque outputs will stand at 141bhp and 240Nm respectively. A few cosmetic changes will be made to its exterior including new front grille, headlamps with LED DRLs, dual-tone alloys, LED taillamps and roof mounted spoiler. Its estimated to cost from Rs 12 lakhh onwards.

Tata HBX

Tata Motors will mark its entry into the micro SUV segment with the HBX concept based model. Its production-ready version will be called – Tata Hornbill, and it’s expected to launch just ahead of 2021 Diwali season (i.e. September or October). The mini SUV will share some of its design elements with the Harrier, especially at the front end. The boxy, upright stance will be retained from the concept. The Hornbill might come with the 86bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 110bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine options. Its prices are likely to fall the range of Rs 4.50 lakh – Rs 7.50 lakh, thus making it the most affordable Tata SUV in the country.

Mahindra XUV700 7-Seater

Mahindra & Mahindra will announce prices of the XUV700 7-seater SUV in October 2021. The model will have an additional third row seat, while its wheelbase is likely to remain unchanged. Similar to its 5-seater model, the Mahindra XUV700 7-seater will be made available with the 200bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and 155bhp/185bhp, 2.2L mHawk diesel engines. While the 5-seat XUV700 comes in five variants priced between Rs 11.99 lakh – Rs 14.99, the 7-seat version will be more expensive.

New-Gen Force Gurkha

Force Motors has confirmed that it will introduce the new-generation Gurkha in the third quarter of 2021 (i.e. just ahead of 2021 Diwali season). The SUV underpins the new ladder-on-frame chassis and has more robust body built. Noticeable changes have made inside and out. For power, the 2021 Force Gurkha uses the BS6-ready diesel engine making 90bhp with 280Nm. It has a 5-speed gearbox for performing transmission duties. The off-road SUV will be offered with 2WD and 4WD with manual locking differentials controlled via levers.
