Tata HBX (Hyundai Casper Rival) Is Ready For Dispatch; Launch Soon

Tata HBX concept based micro SUV will be the next big launch from the home-grown automaker in the country. Its production-ready model is reported to arrive by October with ‘Tata Timero’ nameplate. Official launch and booking details of the new Tata mini SUV are yet to be revealed. According to a fresh media report, the production of the HBX is already underway at the company’s facility. In fact, its first batch is ready for dispatch. It will be the smallest and most affordable Tata SUV in the country. The mini SUV prices are likely to start from Rs 4.50 lakh to Rs 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The carmaker claimed that the mini SUV concept is about 95% of the production-spec model. It carries the brand’s Impact 2.0 design language with front fascia inspired by the Harrier (especially the headlamp setup and Tata’s signature ‘Humanity Line’ grille). While the lower variant will come with the steel rims, the higher trim will get alloys. The final model will retain the upright, boxy stance.

Unlike the concept, the production-spec model will feature slightly more conventional front bumper and grille and low mounted circular fog lamps. While it will give a miss to the exaggerated silver faux plate, the indicators will be mounted on ORVMs. At the back, the Tata HBX will sport LED taillamps with tri-arrow pattern, a small roof mounted spoiler and a neatly designed tailgate. The mini SUV might get the standard size tyres with 15-inch alloy wheels.

The production-spec Tata HBX will have a flat-bottom steering wheel as we have seen in the Nexon, Altroz, Tiago and Tigor. The unit will provide audio and telephone controls. The layered dashboard, square central AC, a 7.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a part-digital 7.0-inch instrument cluster, automatic climate control and many more goodies will be on offer. As far as the engines are concerned, the Tata HBX is likely to be offered with the 86bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 110bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol motor options. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard. The naturally aspirated unit will also be available with the 5-speed AMT gearbox, while the turbo-petrol is rumoured to get the dual-clutch automatic transmission.
