Volkswagen Taigun Launch In 3rd Week of September – Confirmed

Volkswagen India has confirmed that prices of its upcoming new mid-size SUV – Taigun – will be announced in the third week of September 2021. The carmaker has already started accepting pre-bookings for the vehicle. The SUV has been designed on MQB A0 IN platform that also underpins the Skoda Kushaq. Both SUVs share several components and design elements including glasshouse, doors and roof. However, Volkswagen Taigun carries a differently designed front fascia featuring a two-slat chrome grille, single piece headlamps and bumper with chrome insert on the lower part.

What further distinguishes it from the Kushaq is the taillamp cluster running across the width of the tailgate and rear bumper with lots of chrome garnishing. The Taigun has dashboard integrated infotainment system along with the minimalistic interior theme and differently designed AC vents.

Volkswagen Taigun Engines

Features such as a digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and the My Volkswagen connect app, USB Type-C ports, automatic climate control and wireless charging pad are reserved for the top-end trim. The electronic stability control (ESC) will be standard across the model lineup. Its safety kit will also include 6 airbags, Isofix child seat mounts and tyre pressure deflation warning.

Engine setup of the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun will include two turbocharged petrol motors from the TSI engine family. The lower variants will get a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo unit making 115bhp and 175Nm and the range-topping GT Line trim will be exclusively offered with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo motor generating 150bhp and 250Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard. The 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI will come with 6-speed torque convertor automatic and 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox options.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Interior

In the mid-size SUV space, the Volkswagen Taigun will take head-to-head against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq and Nissan Kicks. Its prices are expected to start from Rs 10.50 lakh and go up to Rs 17 lakh.
