Audi e-tron GT India Launch Soon – Key Features Explained

Audi is all set to expand its EV (electric vehicle) product portfolio in India. After the e-tron and e-tron Sportback, the German automaker will bring in the Audi e-tron GT to challenge the Porsche Taycan that’s due for 2022. Prices of the new electric four-door coupe are likely to be announced by October, 2021. Ahead of its official arrival, the company dropped the first teaser image revealing its LED headlamps. Similar to the global model, the India-spec version could be offered in two variants – S and RS.

Powertrain system of the upcoming Audi e-tron GT S and RS includes an 85kWh battery pack promising a range of 488km and 472km respectively. The performance-oriented electric coupe comes with a 238bhp and a 435bhp electric motor fitted at the front and rear axles respectively. Both motors deliver a claimed power of 475bhp and 630Nm of torque. It’s capable to do 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds, while maintaining a top speed of 245kmph.

The RS trim, with the more powerful rear electric motor, returns a maximum power of 598bhp and 830Nm of torque. In boost mode, the power figure goes up to 646bhp. The e-tron RS can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 3.3 seconds and attain a maximum speed of 250kmph. The four-door coupe comes with a 2-speed gearbox transmitting power to the rear electric motor. The unit has a short ratio first and long ratio second gear for achieving higher fuel efficiency and high-speed performance.

The Audi e-tron GT has been packed with features such as a single 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphhone connectivity, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and several driver assistance and safety systems. There are physical control buttons for the climate unit. Some of its key design elements include the signature single-frame grille with honeycomb pattern and black surround, LED headlamps, low set bonnet, a sloping roofline, wide shoulder creas, a sloping roofline and LED taillamps.
