The 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) has witnessed unveiling of Toyota’s 28 models from different segments. One of them that grabbed much attention was the modified Toyota Fortuner with TRD kit. The rally-spec Fortuner has been modified in-house by Toyota Indonesia’s TRD (Toyota Racing Development) division.

Similar to Toyota’s WRC (World Rally Championship) and WEC (World Endurance Championship) cars, the modified Toyota Fortuner TRD sports the company’s signature motorsport livery with sporty Red and White paint scheme. In India, the Toyota Fortuner SUV lineup comes in a total of six variants packed with both petrol and diesel engines. While 4X2 MT petrol variant is priced at Rs 26.69 lakh, the 4X2 AT petrol model costs Rs 28.38 lakh. The 4X2 MT and 4X4 MT diesel versions are available at Rs 28.29 lakh and Rs 30.72 lakh respectively. The automatic diesel models – 4X2 AT and 4X4 AT – come with a price tag of Rs 30.72 lakh and Rs 32.48 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Designed on the IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform, the Toyota Fortuner comes with a 2.8L GD series diesel and a 2.7L, four-cylinder Dual VVTi petrol powertrains. Mileage figures of the diesel and petrol models stand at 14.24kmpl (MT) – 12.9kmpl (AT) and 10.01kmpl (MT) – 10.26kmpl (AT) respectively. The Fortuner can be brought either with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Both 2WD (two-wheel-drive) and 4WD (four-wheel-drive) drivetrain systems are offered on the SUV lineup.
