Tata to Unveil E-Vision Sedan like Model in March 2019 – Report

Upcoming Tata Cars

Tata might showcase the near-production E-Vision at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Home-grown passenger carmaker, Tata will unveil the Vision Hornbill micro-SUV concept, near-production 45X and H7X 7-seater SUV concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Previous media reports claim that the company will also showcase the 45X electric hatchback at the event, though nothing official has been revealed by the company. A recent report suggests that the company could unveil a near-production Tata E-Vision concept at the event as well.

The E-Vision sedan concept was based on the OMEGA ARC platform. However, the report claims that the company will showcase similar-type of model based on the new Alfa-Arc modular platform. Speaking to Business Standard, Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors, said, “I can’t promise much but stay tuned to the announcements in the coming weeks.” “You will actually see something that reminds you of the EVision sedan, but on the Alfa architecture,” he added.

The Tata E-Vision concept previews the brand’s upcoming mid-sized sedan, which will challenge the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The new mid-sized sedan based on the new Alfa modular platform will be designed and developed to accommodate electric or hybrid powertrains in future. The first model, 45X hatchback, to be based on the new Alfa platform will be launched in the mid-2019.

The report further claims that the recently launched Harrier SUV has been receiving excellent response from car buyers. The SUV currently commands a waiting period of 3 months, which can further be increased as the model is priced quite aggressively. Tata will also launch the H7X 7-seater SUV based on the OMEGA ARC in the end of 2019. This model will be more powerful, spacious and feature-loaded than the 5-seater Harrier.
