Tata Harrier’s Platform based 8-seater MPV to challenge Innova & Marazzo

Tata’s new 8-seater MPV will be based on the new OMEGA ARC platform.

Tata Motors has announced to offer a wide range of products in different segments. The company is aiming to cover 90% of the passenger vehicle segments of the country. Tata has zeroed on 2 platforms – ALFA and OMEGA, and all the future cars will be based on these 2 platforms. The models sits between 3.7m to 4.3m in length will be based on the ALFA platform, while models above 4.3 meters will be based on the OMEGA platform.

The company will soon launch the ALTROZ premium hatchback based on the new ALFA platform. Adding to it, the company is also working on a 5-seater B-segment SUV to challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. This premium MPV will be based on the new OMEGA platform which also underpins the Harrier and the upcoming Buzzard SUV. The company is already selling the HEXA SUV, which is positioned directly against the Innova. However, Tata is aiming to offer more premium and value-for-money proposition to the buyers. The 8-seater MPV is not likely to arrive before 2020. It is expected to be launched in 2021-22. The company is yet to make an official announcement on the 8-seater MPV. Tata is also evaluating a Sports Coupe based on the new OMEGA ARC platform. These new models are most likely to be designed by Tata’s in-house design team with the help of Jaguar Land Rover.
