New Tata SUV-Coupe & 8-Seater MPV Under Development – Report
Both models are currently in their initial designing phase.
Tata Motors recently unveiled a range of its new models at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The carmaker showcased 4 new products – Altroz hatchback, Altroz EV, Buzzard SUV and H2X subcompact SUV concept – previewing scalability of its new-generation platforms – Alfa and Omega. While the Tata Altroz, Altroz EV and H2X concept underpin the Alfa architecture, the Buzzard has been built on the Omega platform.
We have reported earlier that Tata will use its new Alfa modular platform for its future products measuring 4.3 meters in length. This architecture is compatible to different body style and powertrains. The Omega platform, on the other hand, will be used for the models measuring from 4.3 meters to 4.8 meters.

According to a latest report, the home-grown carmaker is also considering an all-new SUV-coupe and an 8-seater MPV based on the Omega platform. Both models are currently in their initial designing stage and serve the premium segments.
The new Tata 8-seater MPV will be positioned against the Mahindra Marazzo in the Indian market. Unlike the conventional SUVs that have upright stance, the new Tata SUV-coupe will feature sportier design bits along with a lower roof and sleeker rear section.
Besides this, the home-grown carmaker is also working on a premium SUV that will be stacked up against the Hyundai Creta and the newly-launched Nissan Kicks. The new Tata SUV is reported to be named ‘Tata Blackbird’ and might hit showrooms sometime in 2021. Prior to its official launch, the carmaker might showcase its concept avatar at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.
