Tata Harrier might also receive an in-house developed 1.6L, 4-cylinder petrol engine.

Tata Motors introduced its premium 5-seater SUV – Harrier – on 23rd January, 2019. Within first month of its arrival, the Tata Harrier outsold its arch rival – Jeep Compass with a decent margin. Attributes such as sporty styling, commanding road presence, spacious and feature-packed interior, efficient powertrain and most importantly its competitive pricing are certainly working in its favour.

Aiming to further boost its sales, the home-grown carmaker might introduce a sunroof (fixed glass type) and updated rear suspension system on the Tata Harrier SUV carline. The vehicle will also receive an automatic transmission and 4X4 drivetrain system. The Harrier automatic, with Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque converter gearbox, is reported to hit showrooms by mid 2019.

Currently, the Tata Harrier comes with a 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox and FWD (front wheel drive) system. The oil burner delivers power worth 140PS against 350Nm of torque. It offers multi-drive modes – Road, Rain and Gravel/Off-road along with a Land Rover-like Terrain Response controller with multiple modes for the ESP system. Read: Tata Harrier – 10 Interesting Facts
