Here’re 10 interesting facts about the all-new Tata Harrier SUV

Tata Motors recently introduced its all-new Harrier premium 5-seater SUV in the Indian market. Launched at quite an attractive price, the Tata Harrier takes head-to-head against multiple products right from Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson to Mahindra XUV500 and Hyundai Creta. The base XE variant of the SUV comes with a price tag of Rs 12.69 lakh, while the XM, XT and fully-loaded XZ trims have been priced at Rs 13.75 lakh, Rs 14.95 lakh and Rs 16.25 lakh respectively. 1. New OMEGA Platform

The Tata Harrier is the brand’s first model to feature the new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture. This platform has been sourced from Land Rover’s D8 architecture that also underpins the Discovery Sport. 2. IMPACT 2.0 Design Philosophy

The Tata Harrier is also the company’s first model based on new-generation IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN philosophy. The Tata 45X concept based premium hatchback will be the next production product to carry the new design language. The SUV features Tata’s new ‘Humanity Line’ along with inset grille merging into the LED daytime running lights and forming a single-design element. 3. Best-In-Segment Infotainment System

The Harrier SUV comes equipped with a segment-best widescreen 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Visteon. Visteon is a leading automotive component supplier, which supplies infotainment systems, multi-info displays and digital instrument clusters to global brands including JLR. This system is compatible to Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation and reverse parking.

4. Harman Sourced Audio System

5. Spacious & Comfortable

The Harrier measures close to 4.5 meters in length and sits on a longer wheelbase, ensuring spacious cabin. The SUV offers segment-leading comfortable seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, charging ports for the rear occupants, etc.

6. Manual Gearbox & FWD Only

7. Multi-Drive Modes

Despite being offered with the FWD layout, Tata Harrier comes with multi-drive modes – Standard, Rough and Wet. These modes are claimed to offer high notch driving experience with better fuel economy.

8. Kryotec Diesel Engine

Under the bonnet, the Tata Harrier features a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine, which is essentially sourced from Jeep Compass. Though, Tata has detuned this motor for better efficiency. It is capable of producing power worth 140bhp against 320Nm of torque.

9. Bigger Version Coming Soon

Tata Motors is also working on a 7-seater version of the Harrier that has been confirmed to go on sale in the second half of this year. The Harrier 7-seater model will face challenge from cars like Mahindra XUV500 and the entry-level variants of Toyota Fortuner & Honda CR-V.

10. Competitive Pricing

In terms of pricing, the Tata Harrier undercuts the Jeep Compass that costs between Rs 16.6 lakh – Rs 22.86 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SUV has been priced at Rs 12.69 lakh for the base model and Rs 16.25 lakh for the top-end variant (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
