Hyundai Styx SUV to offer Premium Features – New Details Emerge

New Hyundai Compact SUV

The Hyundai Styx will make global debut at the 2019 New York Motor Show in April

Korean automaker, Hyundai will unveil the much-awaited STYX sub-4 meter SUV at the 2019 New York Motor Show. Set to be Hyundai’s smallest SUV globally, the Hyundai Styx will first go on sale in India in the May-June 2019. The sub-4 meter SUV will challenge the likes of Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the segment-leader Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Hyundai will aim at premium position for the Styx, which could impact the sales of Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. We believe that Hyundai won’t pitch this SUV as the Vitara Brezza competition, instead aiming at premium model in the sub-4 meter category. The small SUV will be equipped with several high-end features, which are missing in the Brezza and Nexon.

The small SUV will be fitted with electric sunroof, dual-tone roof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, all-digital instrument console, automatic climate control, etc. Features like cruise control, hill launch assist and vehicle stability control could also be introduced in the top-spec model. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking sensors and others will come as standard, while the top-spec model could receive upto 6 airbags and rear parking camera.  Also See – Upcoming Hyundai Cars in India

The Hyundai Styx will be based on the new Santro’s platform, which will also underpin the next-gen Grand i10. The new model will be available with 2 petrol and 1 diesel engines. It will also mark the debut of brand’s new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is likely to produce around 100bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. Besides this, the SUV will also source the 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines from the Verna sedan. While the gasoline engine produces 99bhp and 132Nm, the oil burner is good for 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre petrol engine will be paired to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, making it the only model to offer this gearbox. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard.
