Tata Harrier Production Starts; Here’re Its First Official Pictures

Media drive of the Tata Harrier will begin from 3rd December, 2018.

Production of the much-awaited Tata Harrier premium 5-seater SUV has been commenced at the company’s Pune based plant. The carmaker today rolled out the first production-ready SUV unit from the facility. The company says it’s using ‘Advanced Automated Manufacturing Line’ for optimum production efficiency and built quality.

Media drive of the Tata Harrier will begin from 3rd December, followed by its launch in January, 2019. Ahead of its official launch, the carmaker has started taking pre-orders for the SUV. One can book the vehicle by paying a token amount of Rs 30,000.

In the company’s production lineup, the Tata Harrier will sit above Hexa and take on the likes of Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Speculations suggest that the prices of the vehicle will start from Rs 13.5 lakh and go up to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). Read – Tata Harrier Vs Jeep Compass

Based on the company’s new OMEGA platform, the Tata Harrier will use a new 2.0L KRYOTEC, 4-cylinder diesel engine. The SUV could be brought either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The oil burner is good enough to produce a peak power of 140bhp and 300Nm of torque. Some of its design highlights are a prominent three dimensional ‘Humanity Line’, fog lamps with a tri arrow pattern, a large windscreen, flared wheel arches and alloy wheels, and unique taillamp cluster. Feature details of the Tata Harrier are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Though, it is likely to get a Harman-sourced ConnectNext infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, two-layered dashboard, automatic climate control and rear AC vents.
