Tata Harrier Prices Leaked, Undercuts Jeep Compass
The Tata Harrier is reported to be priced between Rs 16 lakh – Rs 21 lakh (on-road).
We have reported earlier that Tata Motors will begin taking pre-orders for the upcoming Harrier premium 5-seater SUV from October 15, 2018. While launch of the Tata Harrier is a few months away, prices of the vehicle have been leaked on the web. According to a fresh media report, the prices of the new Tata SUV will start from Rs 16 lakh and go up to Rs 21 lakh (on-road). That means, its ex-showroom prices will be around Rs 13.5 lakh – Rs 18 lakh.
If launched in this price range, the Tata Harrier will undercut its arch rivals – Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. While the Compass is available in the price range of Rs 15.34 lakh (for entry-level variant) – Rs 22.85 lakh (for the top-spec model), the Tucson is priced between Rs 18.63 lakh – Rs 25.74 lakh. Power for the new Tata Harrier will come from a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine, inspired by the Cryogenic rocket engine. This BSVI compliant oil burner will be boosted with an advanced EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and eVGT (electric variable geometry turbocharger). The Tata Harrier will be the company’s new flagship SUV that will also mark debut of Tata’s new IMPACT 2.0 design language. It will also be Tata’s first car to be based on its new flexible OMEGA platform, developed jointly with JLR. Some of its key features will include Harman-sourced ConnectNext infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a floating touchscreen, rear air AC vents and automatic climate control.
