The homegrown automaker is leaving no stone unturned in making this SUV a huge hit. Previous media reports claim that the SUV will be positioned somewhere between the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass. Likely to be priced between Rs 13.5 lakh and Rs 18 lakh, the new Harrier will challenge a wide range of cars in the 5-seater premium SUV category.

With Harrier, Tata will debut its new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture and Tata’s new IMPACT 2.0 Design Philosophy. The OMEGA architecture is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform, which will also underpin future Tata cars above 4 meter in length. The SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC 4-cylinder diesel engine that is good for 140bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. This SUV is claimed to offer best-in-class off-roading, thanks to higher ground clearance, AWD system and multiple drive modes. For transmission options, the SUV will get six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
