Soon-to-be-Launched New Bikes/Scooters – Details

With total sales of 9,87,828 units, the two-wheeler industry witnessed a decent growth in June 2021. It registered 3 percent growth over 9,61,748 units of June 2020 and 199 percent jump over 3,30,823 units of May 2021. In order maintain the sales momeintum, most of the two-wheeler manufacturers planned multiple new products for the coming months. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new bikes and scooters, which are scheduled to hit roads in July- August, 2021.

Hero Glamour XTec

Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to launch the more upmarket version of the Glamour motorcycle in coming days. Called the Hero Glamour XTEC, the new model will come with some premium features including a fully digital speedometer with gear position indicator, tachometer and RTMI. It will be offered in three colour schemes – Grey Blue, Techno Black and Grey Red. Powering the Glamour XTEX will be the 124.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine making 10.7bhp and 10.6Nm. It’s estimated to be priced around Rs 76,000 (ex-showroom).

The new-generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 has already reached dealerships ahead of its official launch. The new model will share the 349cc, J-platform, single-cylinder engine with the Meteor 350. The motor pushes out a peak power of 20.2bhp and 27Nm of torque. In fact, the retro-styled switchgear and a Tripper navigation pod have also been borrowed from the Meteor. Noticeable changes will be made to its styling as well. The 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 will get a new black colour scheme with finishes vary from matte to gloss black and red seats.

Official launch of the updated TVS Apache RR 310 is likely to happen in the next couple of months. Earlier, it was reported to arrive on 7th April 2021. The 2021 model year will feature a newly-designed headlamp along with a few more cosmetic and feature upgrades. At the heart of the 2021 TVS Apache RR 310 will be the BS6-compliant 312.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine linked to a 6-speed gearbox. The unit makes a maximum power of 33.5bhp against 27.3Nm of torque. It will offer the ride-by-ride throttle with four riding modes – Track, Urban, Rail and Sport.

New KTM RC 200/RC 390

Unofficial bookings of the 2021 KTM RC 200 and RC 300 have already been commenced across the nation. The booking amount varies between Rs 1,000 – Rs 5,000. Both bikes are likely to launch towards the end of July or early August 2021. The 2021 KTM RC 390 will receive a new TFT display and a quickshifter, while the new RC200 will get the fully digital LCD instrument console. The former will be powered by the BS6-compliant 43.5bhp, 373cc, single-cylinder engine and the latter will use the BS6-ready 14.5bhp, 125cc, single-cylinder motor.

The home-grown two-wheeler maker recently teased its upcoming new motorcycle with a caption that reads, “Can you guess the newest street machine”? While there is no official information of the new model, it’s reported to be the new Bajaj Pulsar 250 NS. The naked roadster was earlier spotted testing featuring a muscular fuel tank with bikini fairing, extended shrouds, a split seat, upswept side exhaust and upright tail section. The bike will source power from the new 248.9cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled fuel-injected engine, borrowed from the KTM 250 Duke.

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) might roll out the BS6 iteration of the CB300R naked streetfighter. In fact, the company dispatched a few units of the motorcycles in April 2021. For power, the updated model will use the BS6-compliant 286cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Based on the Honda Neo Sports Café concept, the 2021 Honda CB300R has full LED lighting setup, brushed aluminum radiator shroud, dual-chamber exhaust with contrasting black with chrome and premium finish steel tubular frame. With the BS6 update, the model might witness a price hike of around Rs 10,000.

Ola Electric scooter is one of the much-awaited new two-wheeler launches of this year. It’s slated to arrive towards the end of July 2021. Price of the model is likely to be around 1 lakh and it will be positioned against the Ather 450X. The company has already revealed design and key features of the scooter. It’s claimed to offer an electric range of around 150km on a single charge and a top speed of around 90kmph. It can be charged via home charger or Ola’s Hypercharger Network . The new Ola electric scooter will also provide the largest under seat storage area in its segment. The scooter will come with the smartphone connectivity.

Yamaha Motor India recently unveiled the hybrid version of the Fascino and Ray ZR scooters. Both models are scheduled to arrive in coming months. The 2021 Yamaha Fascino Hybrid and Ray ZR Hybrid have been benefited with the ‘Hybrid Power Assist’ technology, making them more efficient than the regular model. Both the hybrid scooter have been equipped with the full LED headlamp with DRLs and taillamp, a digital instrument cluster with optional Bluetooth connectivity, optional USB charger and side stand engine cut off feature.
