Skoda Kamiq compact SUV will officially debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

The long-awaited Skoda Kamiq compact SUV will officially debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It will be the brand’s third SUV and will be slotted below the Karoq and the Kodiaq. Skoda has already teased the design sketches and interior picture of the upcoming Kamiq SUV. The company is currently testing the new model, which is likely to be launched in late 2019. Prior to its official debut, the clear images of the kamiq have hit the web-world. The spy images clearly suggest that the new model will share styling cues from the bigger siblings and it comes with crossover-ish design rather than the bulky SUV-like profile.

Upfront, the Skoda Kamiq features the trademark double-slat ‘moustache’ grille, which is flanked by split squared-off headlamps with daytime running lights. The upright bonnet has sharp creases that add to the sporty character of the SUV, while the bumper has wider air-intake and skid plate. The Kamiq is the first Skoda to feature dynamic indicators at the front and rear.

The silhouette is designed in-line with Skoda’s bigger SUVs, featuring boxy lines and sharp creases. At the back, the SUV gets boomerang-shaped tail-lights and roof-integrated spoiler. Some of the SUV traits including raked D-pillar, high ground clearance and strong shoulder line. The Kamiq will be the first model for the brand to carry the ‘SKODA’ lettering on the tailgate instead of the logo. Also See – Skoda Kamiq Interior Revealed

The Skoda Kamiq is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO platform, which also underpins the new-gen Polo, T-Cross SUV and Seat Arona. The India-spec model will be based on the locally developed MQB AO IN platform, which will underpin at-least 4 new models from Skoda and Volkswagen. The Skoda Kamiq will share mechanics with the Scala and will be offered with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol and diesel motors. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer.

The Skoda Kamiq compact SUV comes with clean and clutter-free cabin. It features a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. It will also come with an optional virtual cockpit that features a large 10.25-inches display.
