2018 Suzuki Jimny Mini Off-Roader Showcased To Prospective Buyers

We informed you earlier that Suzuki will introduce the new generation Jimny SUV in the Japanese market this year. Ahead of its global debut, images of the new Suzuki Jimny have surfaced online. The SUV was clicked during a private screening of the car to select audience. Adding to it, production of the car has already been commenced in Japan that suggests an imminent launch.

The 2018 Suzuki Jimny looks like a mini G-Wagen. Upfront is a 5-slat black grille, flanked by retro-styled round projector headlamps and circular fog lamps. It also has twin 5-spoke blackened alloy wheels and pronounced wheel arches. The model was finished in dual-tone paint with blackened sunroof and ORVMs with integrated blinkers. The Jimny will be developed on the modified ladder-frame chassis. The global model will be offered as a 3-door mini off-roader. Inside the cabin, the SUV gets a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. The new-generation Jimny will be offered with multiple petrol engine options. While the base model is likely to be powered by a 660cc, 4-cylinder engine, the top-spec model will get the 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol unit. Besides, the SUV will also be offered with a 1.2-litre dual-jet and a conventional 1.2-litre petrol engines. The SUV will also come with four-wheel drive layout and a low range gearbox. For people not in the know, the Gypsy sold in India is based on the long wheelbase Jimny. If reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki is considering the 5-door version of the Jimny as new Gypsy for Indian market. In fact, Suzuki’s Gujarat plant could serve as a global production hub for the new Jimny.
