Tata Tiago JTP

Buoyed by positive response for Nexon and Tiago, Tata Motors is planning to launch a performance oriented version of Tiago in India. Called Tiago JTP, this performance hatch is built by Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives. This model was first unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. It comes with a more powerful engine, lowered suspension set-up, stiffened dampers and bigger disc brakes, which enhances overall performance of the hot hatch.

The Tata Tiago JTP is powered by a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 109bhp and a peak torque of 150Nm. With this power figures, the Tiago JTP will be more powerful than the Baleno RS. The regular model gets the same engine with different power outputs – 84bhp and 114Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheel via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Expected Launch – Diwali 2018
Expected Price – Rs 7 – 8 lakh

Tata Tigor JTP

Similar to the Tiago JTP, Tata Motors will also launch the performance oriented Tigor JTP. This model was previewed to audience at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. It also gets a more powerful petrol engine, stiffened dampers and bigger disc brakes. The Tata Tigor JTP will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 109bhp and 150Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be taken care by a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Maruti Swift Sport

If media reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the Sportiest Swift ever in the Indian market. This model will be the brand’s most powerful hatchback in the Indian market. The hot-hatch is based on Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform, which makes it lighter and faster than the previous model. First unveiled in September 2017, the Swift Sport is currently on sale in select international markets.

The hot hatch is propelled by a 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol engine, which is sourced from the European-spec Vitara S and S-Cross facelift. This engine is capable of producing 138bhp of maximum power and 230Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Tata 45X

Homegrown automaker, Tata Motors will enter into the premium hatchback segment with its all-new hatchback based on the 45X concept. This concept was first unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. It is based on Tata’s new AMP (Advanced Modular Platform), which will also underpin the future Tata cars. This model will be one of the most powerful cars in its category.

It will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that also powers the Nexon. This engine produces 110bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. With lighter body, the 45X based hatchback will be faster than most of the cars in its category. In fact, the regular model is more powerful than the Baleno RS.

Maruti Swift RS

Similar to the Baleno RS, Maruti Suzuki could also launch the RS version of its top-selling hatchback – Swift. This model will come with sportier body kit, which includes side skirts, more prominent bumper, roof spoiler and stiffened dampers. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that produces 100bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Expected Price – Rs 7 lakh – Rs 9 lakh
Expected Launch – 2019
