In terms of positioning and pricing, the new Renault compact MPV will sit below the Lodgy.

In October 2017, Renault confirmed a compact MPV for the Indian market under its “Drive The Future 2017-2022” strategic plan. The carmaker also revealed that its new MPV will be based on the affordable CMF-A platform and measure less than 4 metres in length. The low-cost architecture will not only allow the carmaker make changes in its body style and powertrain, but help curb the manufacturing cost as well.

In terms of positioning and pricing, the new MPV will sit below the Lodgy. While the launch of the new Renault MPV has been scheduled for 2019, the French carmaker has begun its testing on Indian roads. The spotted prototype was fully camouflaged; however, it suggests that the vehicle will have angular design and styling. Renault’s new MPV will be a completely new product featuring sporty tyres fitted with larger rims. Interior details are unknown to us. Though, it is reported to share some of its features with the Kwid hatchback including touchscreen infotainment system and air-con vents. Features such LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and a rear wash/wipe arrangement will also be offered on the MPV. With the third row of seats, the vehicle will be able to accommodate seven passengers. Interestingly, the new Renault MPV will get dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and rear parking sensors as standard safety fitments. Engine details are yet to be revealed by Renault. Though, it is reported to come with the Kwid’s 1.0-litre petrol engine. Rumour also has it that the carmaker might upgrade this powertrain with a turbocharger. The MPV lineup won’t be available with the diesel engine.
