Tata Harrier To Get Petrol Engine & Automatic Gearbox In Future

The Tata Harrier automatic model is reported to launch by mid 2019.

Tata Motors is all set to launch its all-new Harrier premium 5-seater SUV in January, 2019. Prior to its launch, the official bookings have been commenced at a token amount of Rs 30,000. Initially, the Tata Harrier will be made available with a new Kryotec 2.0L, four-cylinder diesel engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Talking to Autocar Professional, Mayank Pareek, President of Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, has confirmed that company will launch a petrol and seven-version version of the Harrier SUV. With the Tata Harrier, the company aims to expand its presence to around 65% of the total passenger vehicle market. The Tata Harrier is the company’s first model based on the OMEGA platform, which is derived from Land Rover. This new architecture will also be used for Tata’s upcoming electric or hybrid vehicles. A cardekho report claims that the company will also introduce an automatic variant of the Tata Harrier by mid 2019. The home-grown carmaker will expand its Indian product portfolio with a range of new products (around 12 to 14) based on the Omega and Alpha platform. The Tata 45X concept based premium SUV will be the first model to be based on the Alpha architecture, followed by a premium sedan. While Tata’s new hatchback will take on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20, the new sedan will gun up straight against the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
