MG Hector SUV will have the most-advanced Interior in the Segment
The MG Hector will offer internet car functionalities along with its own operating system
The long-awaited MG Hector 5-seater premium SUV is reportedly to be unveiled in April 2019. The new model is most likely to be launched in June, 2019. This mid-sized SUV will take on the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, Honda CR-V and the Tata Harrier. The new model will have 75% local components, which will help MG to price Hector competitively. Media reports claim that the SUV could be priced as low as Rs 15 lakh.
The MG Hector will come with the most advanced cabin in its category. It will be the first connected SUV in India, offering internet car functionalities. The Hector is expected to be equipped with its own operating system. Adding to it, the SUV will have an e-SIM card with features like biometrics, real-time traffic info and navigation and AI assistance. It will be the first SUV in India to feature over-the-air (OTA) updates.
The MG Hector will come equipped with segment-leading features including largest-in-segment panoramic sunroof, India’s largest 10.1-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system, 360 degree camera and electronic parking brake. The MG Hector is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530, which is also on sale as Chevrolet Captiva in select international markets. The MG Hector SUV will be available with 2 engine options – a Fiat-sourced 170bhp, 2.0-litre MJD II diesel engine and a new 143bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed DCT gearbox (Petrol only).
