MG Hector Coming Soon; To Be Priced From Rs 15 Lakh

MG Motor India will also launch a pure electric SUV in the fourth quarter of 2019.

MG Motor, the subsidiary of China’s SCIA Motors, is reported to launch its first vehicle in India in the first quarter of 2019. Called the MG Hector, the premium 5-seater SUV is likely to be priced from Rs 15 lakh (for the entry-level variant). The carmaker claims that the Hector will be “one of the most-technologically advanced connected car with an embedded SIM (eSIM) in it”.

Production of the MG Hector will take place at the carmaker’s Halol plant near Vadodara in Gujarat. The carmaker has also confirmed that it will launch a pure electric SUV in the fourth quarter of 2019 (October – December). It’s claimed to cover over 250km (Jaipur to Delhi) on a single charge. Reports suggest the first MG pure electric SUV could be the MG Marvel X. Both Hector and Marvel X are likely to come with the same set of connectivity features with eSIM. The eSIM will provide important information including navigation, transactions, multimedia and apps. MG’s connected cars will also have IPv6 (internet protocol version 6) and OTA (over the air) technology.

In India, the MG Hector SUV is reported to come with two engine options – a 1.5L turbo petrol and a 2.0L turbo diesel. While the gasoline unit makes 143bhp with 250Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 170bhp with 350Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic transmission will be on offer.
