MG Hector Sales Figure – Over 57% Petrol and 43% Diesel

MG Hector Petrol Sales

Launched in June 2019, MG Hector has been a volume generator for the British carmaker in the country. The proof of its popularity lies in the fact that the SUV garnered 10,000 bookings by the time of its launch. Due to high demand, the carmaker had temporarily suspended its bookings and re-opened it in late September, 2019.

Last year, the carmaker sold a total of 15,930 units of the MG Hector with a monthly average of 2,275 units. While the petrol variants witnessed over 57% demand, the diesel models were opted by 43% of buyers. In February 2020, MG Motor India announced that the Hector crossed 50,000 booking mark with sales over 20,000 units.

BS6 MG Hector

The MG Hector was launched at introductory price of Rs 12.18 lakh that goes up to Rs 16.88 lakh for the top-end variant. The SUV received its first price hike in September 2019, followed by a price increase of Rs 26,000 with BS6 upgrade in January, 2020. At present, the Hector petrol models are available in the price range of Rs 12.73 lakh – Rs 17.43 lakh and the diesel variants cost between Rs 13.48 lakh – Rs 17.28 lakh. All prices ex-showroom.

Engine setup of the Hector SUV includes the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel, a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5-litre petrol motor with a 48 Volt mild hybrid system. The oil burner delivers a claimed power of 168bhp and a peak torque of 350Nm. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.5L petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox promises a peak power of 141bhp with 250Nm of torque.

BS6 MG Hector Petrol

The hybrid powertrain is paired to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. It has a 48-volt lithium-ion battery offering 20Nm of extra torque when required and saving power. The hybrid system also comes with three key features – Engine Auto Start-Stop, Regenerative Braking and E-Boost – that help reducing emissions by up to 12%.
