Maruti Ertiga and XL6 Combined Achieve 10,000 Sales Mark
Maruti Suzuki had launched the new-gen Ertiga MPV in the country in late 2018. Based on the Heartect platform, the new 7-seater MPV is currently the best-selling model in its category. Maruti Suzuki recently introduced the XL6 6-seater premium MPV, which is based on the Ertiga. Sold through NEXA dealerships, the XL6 has received positive response from buyers.
The Suzuki Ertiga and the XL6 have outsold every other MPV in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki had delivered 6,284 units of the Ertiga and 3,840 units of the XL6 MPV in September 2019. The combined sales number stands at 10,124 units. The other MPVs on sale – Toyota Innova, Mahindra Marazzo and Renault XL6 – recorded 4,225, 892 and 4,710 sales respectively. The duo combined outsells every other MPV on sale in the market.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 looks different from the Ertiga. It features rugged styling and different interior seat layout. The new XL6 is sold only through NEXA premium sales and service network, while the Ertiga is available through the Arena dealership network. The Maruti Ertiga is available with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre petrol with SHVS mild hybrid system and a 1.5-litre in-house developed diesel. On the other hand, the XL6 6-seater MPV is available with the single 1.5-litre petrol + SHVS mild hybrid system. This engine produces 103.5bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
