Maruti Suzuki might also introduce the ISOFIX Mounts active safety feature as standard on its other models as well.

Maruti Suzuki India has announced to introduce ISOFIX mounts as standard safety feature for child occupants on the Ciaz sedan. The Indo-Japanese carmaker had earlier cleared its intentions to comply with future passenger car safety norms by introducing active safety features to their models. While the Baleno premium hatchback was the first Maruti to get the dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard equipment, later the company introduced them as optional offerings on its several models including Celerio, Swift and Dzire.

For the first time, the company has offered the easier and safer ISOFIX attachment for the child safety on its vehicle. This child safety attachment system needs to be installed on the rear seat of the car via metal bar connectors. These connectors fasten the child seat and tie straps for holding the child. Till now, the ISOFIX mounts were offered as regular offering only for the premium cars. Maruti Suzuki might also introduce this active safety fitment on its other models as well. Besides the new ISOFIX mounts, the base variant of the Ciaz already offers optional dual airbags and ABS with EBD. Other safety features include reverse parking camera, reverse parking sensor, seat belt reminder buzzer for driver, seat belt pre-tensioner & force limiters, etc.

In a statement, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Continuing the strong focus and early adaptability to the safety norms prescribed by the Government, we are making the CIAZ complaint to BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program) by implementing ISOFIX.” It further states, “ISOFIX is an international standard for attachment points for child safety seats in passenger vehicles. It would help in providing a more secure and easier way of attaching child seats in Ciaz.”
