Mahindra XUV400 7-Seater To Share Platform With Ford’s New SUV
We have reported earlier that Mahindra’s all-new 7-seater SUV (codenamed S204) might debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. While the official name and details of the vehicle are yet to be revealed, reports suggest it could be named ‘Mahindra XUV400’.
A fresh media report claims that the new Mahindra 7-seater SUV will share its platform with Ford’s upcoming mid-size SUV (codenamed – B745). Though, both models will carry different design and styling.
The new Mahindra XUV400 and Ford B745 will have several common components and features that will surely help carmakers curb manufacturing cost and achieve competitive pricing. Both SUVs will be retailed via their respective manufacturers’ dealerships.
Similar to the XUV300 and XUV500, the Mahindra XUV400 will have monocoque body with FWD or front-biased AWD system. The spy pictures reveal that the 7-seater SUV will carry aggressive-looking upfront and source a few design bits from the Mahindra XUV300.
The new 7-seater SUV from Mahindra could be offered with a 1.2L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine, carried over from the Mahindra XUV300. The XUV400 might get the BS6-compliant version of both motors. Read – Mahindra XUV400 Might Look Like This
Talking about the Ford B745, the SUV will be designed on an all-new architecture and measure around 4.3m in length. It might debut by the end of 2020 and its launch is likely to take place in early 2021. The new Ford mid-size SUV will take head-to-head against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks.
