Mahindra & Mahindra will launch long-awaited Mahindra U321 7-seater MPV in the first quarter of 2018. It will be developed on Mahindra’s monocoque platform that also underpins the XUV500 SUV. This premium MPV will make its global debut at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. If media reports are to be believed, the MPV will be positioned between Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta in terms of pricing. This means, the base model of the MPV will challenge Ertiga while the top-end variants will rival the Innova Crysta.
Going by the spyshots available on the web, it is visible that the MPV gets a relatively low-set cabin that should improve ingress-egress. The vehicle will have airy cabin and will offer improved legroom and headroom space for all three row of seats. Talking about styling, the MPV will get Mahindra’s toothy multi-slat grille, LED daytime running lights, large headlights with projectors, top-hinged tailgate and high-set tail-lamps. The MPV will come with seven and eight-seat options. It is expected that Mahindra could offer captain seats for the second row. The interior spy images suggest that the vehicle will get all-black cabin with chrome treatment, large touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and connected apps. The top-end models will also get automatic climate control. You May Also Like – Mahindra XUV300 | Mahindra XUV700 | Mahindra Scorpio Electric
The report further suggests that the Mahindra U321 MPV will be powered by a new 1.6-litre diesel engine, which has been developed by Mahindra-SsangYong JV. This mFalcon engine is likely to produce around 130bhp of power and will also power the upcoming Mahindra cars. Both manual and automatic versions of the MPV will be on offer.
