Set to make debut at Auto Expo 2018, the Hyundai Ioniq electric sedan will be launched in the second half of 2018.
South Korean auto giant, Hyundai is planning to launch electric cars in the Indian market. If media reports are to be believed, Ioniq Electric will be Hyundai’s first electric car in the country. The sedan will make India debut at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, while launch will take place in the second half of 2018.
Speaking to Livemint, Rakesh Srivastava, Director Sales, Hyundai India said, “We will bring electric cars to India and will meet the timeline given by the Union government. Hyundai has the technology required for electric vehicles so we will bring them in all the segments we are present. We will surprise the market (when it comes to electric vehicles).”
Hyundai had unveiled the all-new Ioniq sedan in select international markets last year. Built on Hyundai’s zero-emission platform, the Ioniq will be brand’s first fully-electric model in the Indian market. The sedan is available with three powertrains – hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric – and later will come to India by late 2018. Also See – New Hyundai Cars To Be Unveiled At Auto Expo 2018
The Hyundai Ioniq electric is powered by 28kWh lithium-ion polymer battery that churns out 118bhp of power and 295Nm of torque. This electric sedan has a range of 200km on full charge. The battery is equipped with fast charging and it also has regenerative charging. The global sedan is equipped with several high-end safety and security features like automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, headlamps with dynamic bending, tyre pressure monitor, smart cruise control, etc. These features are not likely to be offered in the Indian version, though it will get airbags, ABS with EBD and others as standard.
