The only model that could match the Scorpio’s success the company’s line-up is the XUV500. First launched in 2011, XUV500 has received multiple upgrades in its life-span and is still one of the best-selling Mahindra car models. With the arrival of some capable rivals like Tata Hexa and Toyota Innova Crysta, the SUV has started feeling the heat in this space. And to be able to retain its position, Mahindra will increase the power output on the XUV500. The current 2.2-litre, turbocharged engine makes 140bhp with 330Nm of torque. While with new dose of updates, the XUV500 will offer 168bhp and 330Nm of torque. This is the same engine that does duty in the updated Mahindra Scorpio 2018 which was launched in November 2017. With increase in power and a few more changes, the 2018 XUV500 is one of the most awaited upcoming Mahindra cars in India.
The original design and dimensions of the XUV500 facelift will remain largely unchanged. The SUV will see subtle design upgrades, which makes it look more refreshing. It will be equipped with a new set of alloy wheels with 10-spoke rims similar to the XUV Aero Concept. The SUV will get a re-designed front fascia with new grille, new headlamps with double barrel projector lights and LED DRLs. At the back, the SUV gets revised tail-lights, integrated roof-spoiler and large tail-gate laden with chrome.
