Famous for its utility and sports utility vehicles, the homegrown automajor, Mahindra ruled the segment for long. Ironically, it started losing ground in the segment when SUVs became a rage in India, and for the first time in a long long time it lost its position to Tata Motors in November 2017.

Not just Tata Motors, carmakers like Maruti Suzuki too are now giving tough rivalry to Mahindra in the UV space. Determined to regain lost ground in the segment, Mahindra has planned a slew of launches in the next two years. Here’s a look at all upcoming Mahindra cars in India in 2018 and 2019.

1. Mahindra TUV300 Plus

The longer-wheelbase version of the TUV300, this will be among the very first upcoming Mahindra cars to be launched in India. The vehicle has already been spotted multiple times during its test runs across the nation. We are expecting this to be launched within this month, and will compete against Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and likes. Since it will only be a 7-seater version of the existing TUV300, extended rear overhang and an extra pair of seats will be the only changes we expect in the new car. Having said that, there will be change in the engine as it will get a new mHawk d120 powertrain. 2. Mahindra XUV500 170bhp

The only model that could match the Scorpio’s success the company’s line-up is the XUV500. First launched in 2011, XUV500 has received multiple upgrades in its life-span and os still one of the best selling mahindra car models. With the arrival of some capable rivals like Tata Hexa and Toyota Innova Crysta, the SUV has started feeling the heat in this space. And to be able to retain its position, Mahindra might increase the power output on the XUV500. The current 2.2-litre, turbocharged engine makes 140bhp with 330Nm of torque. While with new dose of updates, the XUV500 is likely to offer 168bhp and 330Nm of torque. This is the same engine that does duty in the updated Mahindra Scorpio 2018 which was launched in November 2017. 3. Mahindra Scorpio Electric

It was November when Mahindra launched the 2018 Mahindra Scorpio facelift with several design changes and a more powerful engine. The updated model came with a more powerful 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 170bhp mated to a 6-speed gearbox. And now Mahindra is working on an electric model of the Scorpio, which is expected to be rolled out in 2019. As a matter of fact, Mahindra has already started testing the electric Scorpio in India.     Hi I would like to know is Mahindra going to launch Thar XL with four doors, crde engine, four wheel drive with hard top in 2018

      No clarity on XL as of now. But the new-gen Thar is expected to be launched by the end of 2018 or early 2019.
