There will be a total of 9 new upcoming mahindra cars in the next two years. Here are all there details
Famous for its utility and sports utility vehicles, the homegrown automajor, Mahindra ruled the segment for long. Ironically, it started losing ground in the segment when SUVs became a rage in India. Carmakers like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors are now giving tough rivalry to Mahindra in the UV space. Determined to regain lost ground in the segment, Mahindra has planned a slew of launches in the next two years. In fact, Mahindra had showcased a couple of new SUVs at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, which will go on sale in the country in the next 1-2 years. Besides, Mahindra has also launched the thoroughly updated version of its popular SUV – XUV500. Here’s a look at all upcoming Mahindra cars in India in 2018 and 2019. Premium SUVs are surely one of the hot favourites among people with budget around Rs 30 lakh – Rs 35 lakh, and this has attracted several carmakers including Mahindra. And thus the home-grown automaker is working on a Fortuner and Endeavour rival. At the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Mahindra had showcased a seven-seater premium SUV based on the new SsangYong Rexton. There is a very high probability that the company might call it Mahindra XUV700 in India.
The new Mahindra XUV700 is based on the new generation body-on-frame chassis, which is borrowed from its Korean subsidiary, SsangYong. It will be the company’s most expensive model to be sold in India and will be the company’s flagship product. The new model will be priced relatively on lower side to take a competitive advantage over its closest rival – Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The XUV700 features Mahindra-like front fascia and new body cladding; however, it looks largely identical to the new Rexton. Under the hood, expect it to get a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic unit. Since it will be the first ever premium SUV from the homegrown carmaker, we put it on top of the list of upcoming Mahindra cars in India. Know More
Expected Launch – Second half of 2018
Expected Price – Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh
It’s no secret that Mahindra is also working on a premium MPV to take on the Toyota Innova Crysta. Reports suggest that it is being developed by Mahindra’s new technical centre located in Troy, USA. Though the company already has Xylo, but that is way behind the Innova be it in the features, quality or overall product attributes. Also it’s not doing any good for the carmaker in terms of sales, and we would like to believe that the Mahindra U321 (codename) will replace it. Insides will come with a choice between seven-seat and eight-seat layout. To make it plusher on the inside, the company will add a host of comfort & connectivity features.
The report further suggests that the new U321 will be priced between Maruti Ertiga and Innova Crysta, which makes it a direct rival the Renault Lodgy. While the base models of the MPV will challenge the Ertiga, the top-spec models will take on Innova Crysta. The Mahindra U321 will also mark the debut of company’s new 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine. Besides, the MPV could also feature a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
Expected Launch – Mid 2018
Expected Price – Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh
While the Mumbai-based carmaker shelved its plan to bring Tivoli to India, the company is reportedly working on product based on the same product. However, the SUV will vary from the Tivoli in terms of looks. Being developed under the codename S201, this model will be offered with 5- and 7-seat layouts. The 5-seater model will sit under 4 meter in length and will challenge the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. On the other side, the 7-seater model will measure above 4 meter in length and will challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and others.
It will source its power from a new 1.2-litre petrol unit that is being developed jointly by Mahindra and SsangYong. This engine is expected to produce around 140bhp of power. The diesel version of the MPV is likely to come with a new 1.5-litre oil burner that will return close to 125bhp of power. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer. Know More
Expected Price-Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh
Mahindra recently revealed the XUV Aero Coupe SUV concept at the 2017 Automobile Barcelona. Prior to this, we saw it at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Sporting futuristic design, the concept model received good response by public visiting both the auto shows. The coupe will get feature flared wheel arches and high-positioned rear end.
Under the hood, expect it to come with a 2.2-litre m-Hawk oil burner that’s good for a peak power of 210bhp. The engine with advanced combustion system, new-generation turbocharger and low pressure EGR technology will offer improved refinement and performance. The transmission duties will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual and 6 speed automatic unit. If media reports are to be believed, Mahindra could also launch the electric version of the SUV. Among the slew of upcoming Mahindra cars in India, this one would be the most contemporary model, with a progressive design. Know More

Thar has been among top favourites among off-road enthusiasts in India, especially the ones that look for a capable off-roader at a competitive price. But it’s a pretty old product now and still has a decade old platform that’s certainly can’t be considered safe. That’s why it surely requires a generation change, and that’s exactly what Mahindra is planning to do. This is surely one of our top favourites among all upcoming Mahindra cars in India. Though no official word on its launch date yet, we hope it to go on sale by the end of 2019. The reason we believe it’s coming in 2019 is because of the new safety norms that will be applicable, which will require all the vehicles to pass the crash tests. This means that the Thar too will have to have a better structure to clear the test, as the current one seems really old.
Mahindra owned Italian design house Pininfarina could also help design the vehicle, while in technology SsangYong could play a crucial part. We might also see an all-new engine on the Thar 2019, but we don’t have concrete details on that yet. Upon its launch, it will take on the new generation Maruti Gypsy., which is also coming in the same year. Read more about it here.

The launch is likely to take place in the second half of 2018. Visually, the KUV100 Electric looks identical to the 2017 Mahindra KUV100 NXT. While the standard model is equipped with a 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine, the TUV300 Plus will get a 2.2-litre mHawk, four-cylinder diesel model producing 120bhp of power. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
