Here’re five interesting facts you need to know about the Kia Sportage compact SUV.

Kia Sportage SUV is one of the most popular vehicles of the Korean carmaker in global markets. The premium compact SUV (fourth-generation model) made its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. If reports are to be believed, the Sportage might make its way to India sometime in 2020. Here’re five interesting facts you need to know about the vehicle.

1. Bigger Than Jeep Compass

If launched in India, the Kia Sportage will be stacked up against the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Though, it will bigger than its rivals. The overall length, width and height of the Sportage stand at 4,480mm, 1,855mm and 1,645mm respectively. The Compass and Tucson measure 4,395mm (L), 1,818mm (W), 1,640mm (H) and 4,475mm (L), 1,850mm (W), 1,645mm (H) respectively. 2. Share Platform & Engine With Hyundai Tucson

The Kia Sportage shares its platform with the rival – the Hyundai Tucson. Both the SUVs are almost similar in size. Globally, the Sportage comes with a new 1.6L diesel, a 1.6L turbo petrol and a 2.0L diesel hybrid engine options. Though, the India-spec model will source its engine setup from the Tucson. 3. Sporty Styling

Featuring Kia’s new styling language, the Sportage looks sporty and will surely appeal its target buyers in India. At the front end, the SUV gets the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, large headlamps with LED DRLs and LED fog lamps. The bold side creases, large alloy wheels, electrically adjustable wing mirrors with integrated blinkers and body-coloured door handles enhance its sporty side appearance. 4. Feature Packed

The fourth-generation Kia Sportage comes with a pack of advanced comfort and safety features. Globally, the entry-level trim of the SUV comes packed with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, hill-start assist and descent control. Features such as a 7.0-inch or 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-speaker JBL audio system, parking assist and a reversing camera are reserved for the range-topping model. 5. Expect Affordable Pricing

Kia Motors India is planning to import its vehicles via CKD (completely knocked down) route and then assemble them at its Andhra Pradesh based facility. The Sportage shares its platform, engines and several components with Hyundai Tucson that will further help the carmaker achieve competitive pricing. It is estimated to be priced between Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
