With the partial lift of the nationwide lockdown, several car manufactures and dealerships have resumed operations. Hyundai Motor India has recommenced its operations in 255 showrooms and workshops across the nation as per central, state and local government guidelines.  In order to ensure safety and protection of employees and customers, the carmaker issued new safety guidelines and procedures.

Within 2 days of resuming operations, Hyundai has received 4,000 inquiries, 500 bookings and retailed 170 units of vehicles. The South Korean carmaker has restart operations at its Chennai-based facility in a phased manner from 6th May. Initially, the company aims to produce 12,000 – 13,000 units with minimal worker capacity.

Just prior to lockdown, Hyundai India rolled out the second-generation Creta at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV’s new model gathered around 18,000 bookings before the lockdown. In April 2020, the carmaker dispatched over 6,700 units of the new Creta and now it aims to ship over 10,000 units on monthly basis across the country.

In coming months, Hyundai India will bring in two new models – Tucson SUV facelift and new-generation i20 hatchback. The 2020 Hyundai i20 is expected to hit showrooms in September. The premium hatchback will witness comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades along with the new engine setup.

Reports suggest that the new-generation i20 will come with the BlueLink connected car technology. Some of its key features will include a new 10.25-inch display with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a navigation touchscreen, a digital cluster, an optional Bose audio system with 8-speakers and a sub-woofer and more.

The South Korean carmaker is working on a range of new models for the Indian market. The plan might outline the Hyundai Creta 7-seater SUV, an all-new MPV and a small hatchback to challenge Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. Rumor also has it that the company might bring in the Hyundai Palisade SUV.
