Hyundai is all set to give a generation change to the i20 hatchback in the Indian market. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, its launch has been postponed to September from June, 2020. Speaking to carandbike, Tarun Garg, Director – Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motor India, has revealed that the 2020 Hyundai i20 will come with the BlueLink connected car technology similar to the new Creta, Verna and Venue.

The next-generation i20 might offer 33 connected services including 10 India-specific features as we have seen in the Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV. The connected features are divided into 7 categories – Safety, Security, VRM (Vehicle Relation Management), Remote, Voice Recognition Services, LBS (Location Based Services) and Alerts Services.

Upcoming Cars Between 5 and 10 lakhs

Besides Hyundai’s BlueLink, the 2020 Hyundai i20 will receive new 10.25-inch displays with a navigation touchscreen, a digital cluster and wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. With respect to safety, the all-new i20 (global-spec) will get a new-generation Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Navigation-based Smart Cruise control. The list of safety fitments will also include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, speed alert and cruise control.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 will share its powertrain with its younger sibling – Grand i10 Nios. That means, the premium hatch will come with a 82bhp, 1.2L petrol, 118bhp, 1.0L turbo-petrol and 99bhp, 1.2L diesel engine options. There will be four gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 7-speed DCT automatic.
