BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is Finally in India; Priced Rs 1.30 Crore
British luxury carmaker, BMW has finally launched the flagship 8 Series range in the Indian market. The company has introduced the new 8 Series Gran Coupe and the M Sport Coupe in the country. The 8 Series GC is available in 2 variants – 840i Gran Coupe and 840i Gran Coupe M Sport – priced at Rs 1.30 crore and Rs 1.55 crore respectively. The BMW M8 Coupe is available at a price tag of Rs 2.15 crore.
The new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is powered by a BSVI compliant 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line petrol engine (BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology) paired to an eight-speed steptronic sport automatic gearbox. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 340bhp and a peak torque of 500Nm at 1,600-4,500rpm. The new model accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 5.2 seconds. It comes with adaptive suspension system, which enables individual response behavior for each wheel at the touch of button. The new 8 Series GC is available with different driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport+.
The Gran Coupe is equipped with a host of BMW ConnectedDrive technologies such as BMW Gesture Control, Wireless Charging and Wireless Apple CarPlay. The cockpit concept BMW Live Cockpit Professional running on latest BMW Operating System 7.0 includes 3D Navigation, a 12.3-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25 inch Control Display. Park Assistant with Rear View Camera makes parking in tight spots easier by taking over acceleration, braking and steering.
The Gran Coupe is equipped with features like Auto Start-Stop, Brake-Energy Regeneration, Electronic Power Steering, ECO PRO Mode in driving experience control, etc. In terms of safety, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe gets six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, and Dynamic Stability Control (Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Parking Brake with auto hold, vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor and ISOFIX child seat mounting).
The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe design highlights include sculpted bonnet with large air intakes, prominent double kidney grille, coupe roofline, wide wheel arches, sport exhaust system and wrap-around LED lights. The Coupe offers a luggage compartment of 440-litres. The 40:20:40 split backrest allows greater flexibility and ease of loading / unloading. The company is offering multiple color choices for the leather upholstery and interior trim. It gets a large two-part panoramic gloass roof, which extends seamlessly into the rear.
The top-of-the-line ‘M Sport’ Edition comes equipped with BMW Lazer Lights, chrome line ‘BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line’, a choice of bespoke BMW Individual paint finishes and the ‘M Aerodynamic’ package. The ‘M Aerodynamics’ package features extra-large air intakes, specially designed side skirts and rear apron with diffuser insert in Dark Shadow metallic, 19″ M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style, M lettering, two chrome exhaust tips and various M interior equipment features. Inside the cabin, it gets multifunctional seats for driver and front passenger, leather wrapped instrument panel and door upper trim, and M leather steering wheel.
