PSA Groupe, the French automaker has officially announced to enter into India in 2021-22. The brand has opted for the Citroen nameplate to start their operations in India. The company is testing the global C5 Aircross SUV, which suggests that the SUV could arrive in India. A new media report suggests that the Citroen C3 Aircross B-segment SUV is also likely to be launched in India.

Speaking to Car&Bike, Linda Jackson, CEO, Citroen said, “Across the world we have launched a highly successful B segment SUV (C3 Aircross) and of course the C SUV (C5 Aircross). So I think across the B and C segments we see, as we call them – volume-profit opportunities. And I think wherever you go that’s evident – from South America, to China, to India. From a Citroen point of view that’s why we have launched the vehicles in the sequence that we have. Recognising that the priority you do these things is the priority of the market. I think that’s probably true of the Indian market.”

The Citroen C3 Aircross is a B-segment compact SUV, which is based on the C3 hatchback. The styling is heavily inspired by the bigger C5 Aircross, featuring signature chrome grille, big bumper with twin-part mesh grille, slimmer headlamps with DRLs and rectangular-shaped fog lamps with LEDs. Strong creases, flared wheel arches, dual-tone body paints and stylish rear are few of the styling elements of the new C3 Aircross.

The cabin of the Citroen C3 Aircross is also equipped with several high-end features like a massive touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, multiple airbags, multi-functional steering, digital instrument console and others. The Citroen C3 Aircross is available with 2 engine options – a 129bhp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 118bhp, 1.6-litre diesel. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.

The Citroen C3 Aircross will directly rival the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster and the upcoming Kia SP2i. Talking about the C5 Aircross, this SUV will be the brand’s premium offering and will challenge the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, MG Hector and Honda CR-V.
