It’s Official – Groupe PSA to Launch Citroen Brand in India
The Groupe PSA has opted for the Citroen brand to start operations in India.
It is no secret that French automaker, Groupe PSA is planning to enter into the growing Indian market. The company has collaborated with Hindustan Motors to sell and produce cars for Indian market. It is now confirmed that the first locally produced vehicle will be launched in India in 2021. The Groupe PSA has opted for the Citroen brand to start operations in India.
In a statement confirming plans, Groupe PSA, said, “Citroën is Groupe PSA chosen brand for the Indian market and its range meets future industry norms and customers’ expectations.”
While revealing the FY2018 financial results, Carlos Tavares, Chairman of the Managing board, confirmed that the Group is aiming to conquer new markets. The India project was announced as part of the Push to Pass plan and was introduced in 2017. The project was announced with the signing of two joint venture agreements with the CK Birla Group. PSA Groupe plans to manufacture vehicles and powertrains in the State of Tamil Nadu and to bring state-of-the-art technology for an eco-friendly new product range.

PSA Groupe has been testing the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV in India. It was speculated that the company would bring this SUV as CKD unit. This SUV will directly rival the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.
