2018 Nissan Micra India 1

New-gen Nissan Micra hatchback to get more powerful engines, new and bolder design and feature-loaded cabin.

We recently reported that Nissan will launch a range of new cars from its global lineup in India. The first model to go on sale is the Kicks compact SUV, which was recently revealed in design sketches. Japanese automaker is also considering a range of electric and hybrid cars for Indian market. What’s interesting is that the new-generation Micra is also a part of company’s plan for Indian market. Not just Micra, Nissan is also working on the new-gen Sunny sedan.

The India-spec Micra will be based on the localised CMF A+ platform, which will also underpin the next gen Sunny sedan. Additionally, the next Micra will be more powerful than the outgoing model. The vehicle could use Nissan Terrano’s 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that offers two states of tunes – 84bhp and 108bhp. The gasoline version is likely to receive a 1.2-litre engine, which will be tuned for better performance and efficiency. Previous reports claim that the hatchback could use the 106bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine. However, this will increase the cost of the hatchback. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a new X-Tronic CVT automatic unit.
