Nissan Kicks For India Revealed In Sketches; Launching Soon

Nissan Kicks Sketch

Nissan Kicks SUV for India will be longer and spacious than the global model.

Japanese automaker, Nissan has released the first sketches of the long-awaited all-new Nissan Kicks SUV for Indian market. The new model will go on sale in the country before the end of this financial year, most probably in January 2019. This SUV will sit above the Terrano in the brand’s line-up and will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and others in its category.

The sketches reveal that the design of the India-spec model is largely identical to the model sold in international markets. However, the new model will be bigger in terms of dimensions than the model currently on sale abroad. While the international model sits just under 4.3 meters, the India-spec Kicks is likely to sit around 4.4m in length. Additionally, the SUV is expected to be taller and wider and will have a longer wheelbase to maximise space inside the cabin. This will also translates into more boot space than the global model, which stands at 432-litres.

The interior will be far better than the Terrano, in terms of feel and quality as well. The company will use new and colourful interior scheme to attract young buyers. It will be equipped with a 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Expect several high-end features like automatic climate control, rear AC vents, leather seats, cruise control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, etc. Read – Nissan Kicks – What We Know So Far

While the global Kicks is based on Nissan’s V platform, the India-spec model will use the heavily localised and modified Duster’s MO platform. The MO platform also underpins the Terrano, Renault Duster and the India-spec Renault Captur. The Nissan Kicks is most likely to share engine specs with the new Captur SUV, which includes 110bhp, 1.5-litre K9K diesel and a 106bhp, 1.6-litre petrol. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual (D), a 5-speed manual (P) and a CVT automatic. We expect the Kicks to be priced somewhere between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 16 lakh.
