Nissan To Launch Several Global Cars In India; Kicks Will Be First

Nissan Kicks compact SUV’s India launch has been confirmed for the first quarter of 2019.

Nissan, the Japanese automaker, has announced its new strategy for the Indian market. The plan outlines new product launches, dealer network expansion, strengthening of Nissan and Datsun brands and optimizing flexible manufacturing. The carmaker has also confirmed that the Nissan Kicks compact SUV will hit Indian roads in the first quarter of 2019. In Nissan’s Indian product portfolio, the Kicks SUV will sit above the Terrano and will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta. The Japanese carmaker now wants to focus more on premium products so to change its image as a more upmarket brand, and all it begins with the launch of Kicks SUV.

In order to achieve “technological leadership in electrification and connected cars”, the company will bring in its best global lineup to the Indian market. Nissan India will also expand its sales and service network in the next three years, especially in the regional markets. The Chennai-based Nissan Design Centre will also be expanded for design and developing products as per Indian customers’ preferences. Nissan’s first Global Digital Hub in Kerala will also be a part of the new strategy. The Digital Hub will focus on mobility solutions and help the carmaker expand its products and services via digitization and e-commerce worldwide including India. With an aim to meet the increasing manufacturing demand for its new breed of cars, the Japanese automaker will train its plant workforce. For its low-cost brand – Datsun, Nissan India will develop a range of more feature-loaded products. The Datsun brand will also focus on progressive mobility solutions with high value products packed with connected technologies.
