All New Isuzu Compact SUV Is Being Considered For India

The company aims to increase its sales up to 7000-7500 units in FY19.

Isuzu Motors India recently introduced the updated version of its 7-seater MU-X SUV. Aiming to further expand its Indian product portfolio, the Japanese carmaker is now planning to bring in an all-new compact SUV which is currently under development for global markets. However, the final call for the decision is yet to be taken by the company.

Ken Takashima, Deputy Managing Director and Executive Vice President, Isuzu Motors India said, “SUV demand is growing not just in India but across the world and the trend is expected to remain like that for some more years. Product development work (for smaller SUVs) is going on internationally and we are yet to decide if India should be one of the markets for it.” Read – Upcoming 7-Seater Cars In India

Isuzu Motors India sells fully-fledged MU-X SUV and three pick-ups including the D-Max V-Cross. The MU-X SUV, which is currently imported as CKD unit from Thailand, could be produced locally at the company’s Andhra Pradesh plant in near future. While the existing Isuzu models come with diesel powetrains, the company is also exploring the possibility of hybrid engines. In fiscal year 2018, the Japanese carmaker doubled its sales to 5,000 units in the domestic market. Now, the company aims to increase it up to 7000-7500 units in financial year 2019.
