Isuzu Motors has finally introduced the new Isuzu MU-X facelift in the Indian market. The updated version of the premium 7-seater SUV is available in two variants – 4X2 and 4X4 – priced at Rs 26.27 lakh and Rs 28.23 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Hyderabad. The new Isuzu MUX 2018 facelift has received subtle aesthetic upgrades along with a pack of new features. No changes have been made under the hood. The SUV’s updated model continues to source its power from the 174bhp, 3.0-litre diesel motor carried over from the old model.
Transmission too remains unchanged – i.e. 5-speed automatic unit. The carline comes with the 4X4 Terrain Command variant with the shift-on-fly dial. In the premium SUV space, the 2018 Isuzu MUX will continue to face challenge from cars like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Similar to the pre-facelift model, the 2018 Isuzu MUX will be imported to India as CKD (completely knocked down) unit and assembled via kit at the carmaker’s new Sri City-based facility in Andhra Pradesh. The updated version of the SUV is slightly pricier than the old model. The new Isuzu MUX 2018 price falls in the range of Rs 26.27 lakh (4X2)- Rs 28.23 lakh (4X4), while the previous model was priced at Rs 24.83 lakh (4X2) and Rs 26.80 lakh (4X4). As mentioned in the beginning, the new Isuzu MUX 2018 facelift makes use of the same 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder DOHC turbocharged diesel engine boosted with fuel injection technology. The 2018 Isuzu MUX facelift comes in a choice of the same four colour schemes – Silky White Pearl, Orchid Brown Mica, Cosmic Black Mica and Titanium Silver Metallic.
New Isuzu MUX 2018 Dimensions
Dimensionally, the 2018 Isuzu MUX facelift remains unchanged. It continues to sit on a 2,845mm long wheelbase, and measures 4,825mm in length, 1,860mm in width and 1,825mm in height. This makes it 30mm longer and 5mm wider than its closest rival – Fortuner. Though, it’s 67mm shorter than the Endeavour. The SUV stands on a 220mm of ground clearance making it compatible for rough terrains. It offers a fuel tank capacity of 65-litres.

The updated version of the MUX SUV has witnessed minor design changes enhancing its masculine appeal. The twin-slate chrome grille has been revised. The SUV also gets LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs (daytime running lights). The revised front bumper and larger round fog lamps and chrome inserts give a refreshing look to its face. Save for the new set of larger 18-inch alloy wheels, the side design of the SUV remains unchanged. It features the same chromed ORVMs and door handles, aluminium side steps and silver roof rails. New Isuzu MUX 2018 Interior
Inside, the 2018 Isuzu MU-X receives soft touch surfaces and the central dash section with silver plastic surround. The twin-cockpit ergonomic interior design with dual-tone ivory-grey theme is carried over from the previous model. Though, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity instead of the 7-inch touch unit.
Features such as “Live Surround Sound” rood-mounted sound system with 8-speakers, roof mounted 10-inch DVD entertainment monitor, electo-luminescent meters with Multi information display (MDI), climate control AC, a 60:40 folding 2nd row seat with armrest and cupholders, a roof-mounted fold down screen, quilt-patter leather upholstery and cruise control system are continue on offer.
At the safety front, the 2018 Isuzu MU-X gets six airbags (driver, front passenger, side and curtain) as standard fitment. The SUV also offers Anti-skid brake system (ABS) with Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), Emergency brake assist (EBA), Electronic stability control (ESC), Traction control system (TCS), Hill start assist (HSA), rear parking assist camera, 3 ISOFOX child seat anchorage for 2nd row seats, emergency locking retractor for all seat belts and child proof rear door locks.
Besides this, the car also comes with the anti-theft alarms system, driver seat belt warning, audible and visual headlight ON and parking light –ON warning, engine immobilizer, side anti-intrusion bars inside side doors, etc.
