New Thar To Y400 SUV – 5 New Mahindra SUVs Launching Within 12 Months

With these 5 new SUVs, Mahindra aims to improve its sales in the competitive Indian market.

In a bid to regain lost market share, Mahindra is planning to launch a range of new utility vehicles. The company has recently introduced the new Marazzo MPV, which received decent response from buyers. The company aims to launch a series of new models in India in the next 1 year to further strengthen its position in the growing UV segment.

New Mahindra Y400

The homegrown UV maker will launch its flagship SUV – codenamed Y400 – in India in November 2018. This will be the brand’s most expensive SUV, which will challenge the Toyota Fortuner & Ford Endeavour. Based on the global SsangYong Rexton, the 7-seater SUV will be powered by a 187bhp, 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

Launch – November 19, 2018

Mahindra S201

Likely to be called Mahindra XUV300, the 5-seater sub-4 meter SUV will go on sale in the first quarter of 2019. It will be based on the SsangYong’s X100 platform that also underpins the Tivoli SUV. This sub-compact SUV will challenge the segment leader Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. It will be available with 2 new engines – 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel.

Launch – Q1, 2019

Mahindra Thar 2019

The homegrown UV maker will give a new life to its popular lifestyle SUV – Mahindra Thar in 2019. The new model will be based on all-new platform, which is also expected to be used in the next Scorpio. Media reports claim that Mahindra aims to make the Thar nameplate as a cult brand. It will be equipped with a newly developed diesel engine.

Launch – Late 2019

Mahindra KUV100 Electric

Mahindra had showcased the KUV100 based electric model at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Testing of the e-KUV100 has already been started and the vehicle is expected to be launched in the first half of 2019. Mahindra hasn’t revealed the specifications for the SUV, but claims that it will offer a range of 140km. Additionally, it will come with an optional fast charging which can extend its range by 80% in less than an hour.

Mahindra TUV300 Facelift

Mahindra’s sub-4 meter 7-seater SUV – TUV300 – will receive a mid-life facelift in 2019. In fact, testing of the SUV has already been commenced. The SUV will receive cosmetic upgrades in the form of revised headlamps, repositioned LED DRLs, updated front and rear bumper and newly designed alloys. Mechanically, the SUV will remain unchanged.
