9 Big New Launches In September – 6 SUVs, 2 Hatch, 1 Bike

The festive season is just a month away and car manufacturers are ready to launch new models in the market. Here’re launch date and details of the upcoming new cars and bikes, which are slated to hit roads in the month of September 2021. The list includes 6 new SUVs (including 3 unveilings), 2 hatchbacks and a bike.

New Royal Enfield Classic 350

2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Signals Edition

Royal Enfield has confirmed that it will announce prices of the much-awaited new-generation Classic 350 on September 1, 2021. The bike will be designed on the new ‘J’ platform that made debut on the RE Meteor 350. The engine and a few features will also be borrowed from the Meteor. The 2021 Royal Enfield will come with the 20.2bhp, 349cc, fuel injected engine and get a new instrument console and Tipper navigation system. Significant cosmetic changes will also be made to the bike.

Tata Punch will be the next big launch from the home-grown carmaker that’s ready to hit showrooms in September. Its official launch date, however, is yet to be revealed. The production model retains most of the design elements from the concept including the upright stance and alloy wheels. Its interior layout and features could be similar to the Altroz premium hatchback. Engine setup of the upcoming Tata Punch micro SUV will include 1.2L naturally aspirated and 1.2L turbocharged petrol motors making 85bhp with 113Nm and 108bhp with 140Nm respectively.

Volkswagen Taigun Features

Volkswagen Taigun, the new Creta and Seltos rival, will see a release on September 23, 2021. The SUV has been designed on the MQB AO IN platform that also underpins the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq. Some of its design bits are similar to the Kushaq, but it looks different with two slat chrome grille, chrome inserts on the lower part of front bumper, new taillamps and chrome garnishing on rear bumper. Compared to the Kushaq, the VW Taigun has a few extra features to offer. It will come with the 115bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 150bho, 1.5L turbo petrol engine options.

Kia Seltos X-Line, the sportier version of the standard Seltos, is ready to arrive in the month of September. According to leaked information, the SUV’s new variant will have 14 new features including a new Matte Graphite paint scheme. On the exterior, it gets a matte graphite radiator grille with piano black outline, gloss black trim on the front bumper, piano black front skid plate with Sun Orange accent, Ice Cube LED fog lamps with piano black accent and 18-inch crystal cut matte graphite alloys. Inside, the Seltos X-Line has Indigo Pera leatherette seats with honeycomb pattern and grey stitching. It will come with the 138bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol and 114bhp, 1.5L CRDi diesel engines.

Hyundai i20 N Line

Hyundai i20 N Line Unveiled

Official bookings for the Hyundai i20 N Line have already been commenced at an initial sum of Rs 25,000. Prices of the sportier i20 will be announced in September 2021. The hatchback gets cosmetic enhancements over the regular model including dual-tone front bumper, chequered flag-inspired grille, 16-inch dual tone alloys, special leather seats with N logo, leather wrapped gear knob and steering wheel and more. For power, the i20 N Line uses the same 120bhp, 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that does duty in the standard i20. In order to improve its performance, the carmaker has calibrated its suspension setup along with the revised exhaust note.

New Maruti Celerio

2021 Maruti Celerio Launch Date

The Indo-Japanese carmaker will roll out the new-generation Maruti Celerio in September 2021. Compared to the current model, the new one will carry more angular stance with significantly revised design. In fact, the hatchback will witness noticeable dimensional changes. It will be bigger than before. The 2021 Maruti Celerio will also ditch the existing platform for the Heartect architecture. Under the hood, the hatch will feature the existing 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. This time around, the Celerio will get the WagonR’s 83bhp, 1.2L petrol engine as well.

MG Astor

MG Astor mid-size SUV will make its official debut in mid September and its launch might happen in October 2021. The carmaker has confirmed that the Astor will be packed with several segment-first features including ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) and AI assistance powered by i-Smart Hub. It will have dual-tone interior with silver inserts on dashboard, door trims and aircon vents. It will be MG’s first vehicle to be based on the Concept of Car-as –a-platform (CAAP). The new MG SUV is likely to come with the 118bhp, 1.5L petrol and 161bhp, 1.3L turbo petrol engine options.

Citroen C3

Citroen C3 Compact SUV

Citroen C3, the upcoming subcompact SUV from the French carmaker, will have its world premiere on 16th September, 2021. If reports are to be believed, the new Citroen SUV will enter into production in December and its launch will take place in early 2022. Its design and styling will be inspired by Citroen’s global SUVs. The compact SUV will have several comfort goodies to offer including a digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, automatic AC unit, multi functional steering wheel and more. The C3 compact SUV will underpin the new CMP – Common Modular Platform. It’s likely to be offered with the 1.2L turbo petrol and flex-fuel system (1.2L petrol engine + ethanol blends).

Hyundai’s upcoming Casper micro SUV (codenamed AX1) will be first launched in South Korea, followed by Indian market (in early 2022). It’s likely to share its platform with the Santro hatchback. Here, the micro SUV will be made available with the 1.1L, 4-cylinder petrol and 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine options. The Casper will be the smallest SUV from Hyundai that’s reported to measure 3595mm in length, 1595mm in width and 1575mm in height. The spy images confirm that Hyundai’s new mini SUV will carry boxy and upright stance.
