8 New Car Launches, 1 Unveiling In January 2021

The year 2021 is set to kick-start on a high note with a range of new car launches in January, 2021. There will be arrival of 6 new SUVs, 1 hatchback and 1 sedan along with a global product unveiling. Read below to learn more about the new car launches in January 2021.

1. Toyota Fortuner Facelift

Toyota Fortuner, the top-selling SUV from the Japanese carmaker, will receive an update on 6th January 2021. This time around, the company will also bring in the sportier Fortuner Legender variant of the SUV. The facelifted model is likely to come with the more powerful 2.8L turbo diesel engine that’s good enough for 204bhp and 500Nm. The 2.8L GD diesel motor will also continue to be on offer. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift will receive noticeable cosmetic changes (especially at the front end) and a few more new features.

2. Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol

Tata Motors is ready to roll out the more powerful version of the Altroz premium hatchback on 13th January, 2021. The model will receive a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine pushing out power worth 119bhp and 140Nm of torque. The Tata Altroz turbo petrol is reported to come with a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic sourced from Punch and gear shifter from Lumax. The new DCT gearbox will also be introduced on other Tata model lineup. The new turbocharged petrol variant is likely to hit roads in January 2021.

3. BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine

The German carmaker, BMW will announce prices of the long-wheelbase version of the 3-Series sedan on 21st January, 2021. Called the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine, the model has 110mm longer wheelbase and 43mm more rear seat legroom than the standard. In fact, its length has also been increased by 120mm. The BMW 3-Series Limousine is likely to come with two engines – 2.0L turbo petrol (255bhp) and 2.0L diesel (188bhp). The sedan’s LWB version might come as a replacement to the BMW 3 Series GT. In the company’s product lineup, it will sit between the 3 Series and 5 Series.

4. MG Hector Plus 7-Seater

Morris Garages has confirmed that it will launch the MG Hector Plus 7-seater model in January, 2021. It’s official launch date, however, is yet to be announced. The 7-seater version will have a bench type seats in the second row with 60:40 split ratio and sliding feature. Exterior and interior of the bigger Hector Plus will be exactly similar to the 6-seater model. The Hector Plus model lineup is spread across four trim levels – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp – and available with four engine and gearbox combinations.

5. MG Hector Facelift

The British carmaker is also gearing up to launch the updated MG Hector SUV in January 2021. Recently, the clear pictures of the model surfaced online revealing its cosmetic and feature details. The 2021 MG Hector will receive a newly-designed grille with black mesh and stain grey surrounds, larger 18-inch alloy wheels and a few updates at the rear end. Inside, there might be a dual-tone theme, new upholstery and features such as an updated iSmart connectivity suite and auto-dimming rear view mirror. Engine setup is likely to remain unchanged – i.e. 1.5L turbo petrol, 1.5L petrol with mild hybrid and 2.0L diesel.

6. Jeep Compass Facelift

Select Jeep dealers are reported to start taking pre-orders for the updated Jeep Compass. If reports are to be believed, the 2021 Jeep Compass facelift will see a release on coming 23rd January. The SUV will receive a few noticeable changes inside and out including a new front grille, revised headlamps with LED DRLs, tweaked bumper with larger air-dam, new fog lamp assembly and new alloys. The biggest change will come in the form of a large, floating 10.1-inch touchscreen UConnect 5 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Amazon Alexa support and over-the-air updates. The new model will be slightly longer and taller than the existing one. No changes will be made to its engine setup that includes a 163bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol and 173bhp, 2.0L turbo diesel.

7. Renault Kiger

Renault Kiger subcompact SUV recently made its debut in the concept form, which will be followed by its launch in January 2021. The final model of the vehicle is claimed to retain 80% design bits from the concept. It will be the smallest and more affordable SUV from the French carmaker in the country. Engine setup of the Kiger will include the 1.0L naturally-aspirated and turbocharged petrol motors. The former will maker 72bhp with 96Nm and the latter one will deliver 99bhp with 160Nm. Both manual and CVT (only with the turbo-petrol variants) gearboxes will be on offer.

8. Tata Harrier Petrol

Tata Harrier petrol could be among the first new launches from the home-grown carmaker in January 2021. The SUV will come with the new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine benefited with direct-injection technology. The new gasoline motor is the four-cylinder version of the 1.2L Revotron turbo petrol unit that does duty in the Tata Nexon. It’s likely to be produce power worth 150bhp. Interestingly, the same engine setup will be offered on the upcoming Tata Gravitas SUV. No other changes will be made to the Harrier petrol.

9. Skoda Vision IN

Skoda Auto will unveil and announce the official name of the production-ready Vision IN mid-size SUV. It will be Skoda’s answer to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Recently, the company trademarked a few product names for its upcoming new SUV. The Skoda Vision IN concept based SUV will be the brand’s first model to be built on the locally-developed MQB  AO-IN platform. The SUV is likely to be offered with the 1.5L TSI petrol (148bhp/250Nm) and 1.0L turbo petrol (110bhp/175Nm) engine options. There will be two gearboxes to choose from – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
