2020 Skoda Superb, Rapid 1.0 TSI Set To Launch On 26th May
Skoda Auto will announce prices of the Karoq SUV, Superb facelift and Rapid 1.0L TSI sedan on 26th May, 2020. Official bookings for all three models have already been commenced at a token sum of Rs 50,000. Talking about the 2020 Skoda Superb facelift, the premium D-segment sedan will be offered in two variants – Laurin & Klement (L&K) and Sportline. It’s estimated to be priced between Rs 28 lakh – Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom).
Previewed at this year’s Auto Expo, the updated Superb has received minor cosmetic changes including the new LED headlamps, a revised front grille and bumper and lots of chrome at the rear end. The LED lighting at the front and rear will further enhance its premium look.
Inside, the sedan has an updated infotainment system, Skoda’s Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster and wireless smartphone charging along with other comfort goodies. Under the hood, the 2020 Skoda Superb employs a new 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine making power worth 190bhp. The motor is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The BS6 Skoda Rapid was showcased alongside the new Superb and Karoq at the biennial event. Powering the vehicle will be a 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine pushing out a peak power of 110bhp and 175Nm of torque. The same powertrain does duty in the BS6 Volkswagen Vento sedan and Polo hatchback.
Initially, the BS6 Skoda Rapid will be offered with a manual gearbox. The carmaker will introduce a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission on the sedan lineup by the end of this year. Minimal changes are likely to be made to its exterior and interior. Prices of the updated model are likely to fall in the range of Rs 8.7 lakh – Rs 11.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
