The long-awaited Skoda Karoq SUV will finally go on sale in the Indian market on May 26, 2020. The new model will be launched online as public gatherings are banned in India due to COVID-19 pandemic. Not just Karoq, Skoda will also launch the new Rapid 1.0 TSI and the Superb facelift on the same day.

Skoda Karoq Bookings

The new Skoda Karoq SUV will be introduced as a CBU (Completely Built Up) Unit and is expected to be priced around Rs 23-25 lakh. At this price point, the new Karoq will directly rival the upcoming Hyundai Tucson facelift and the high-end variants of the Jeep Compass. Bookings for the new Karoq SUV have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 50,000.

Skoda has already confirmed that the new Karoq will be launched in a single, fully-loaded variant. The SUV will be offered with a single 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine that also powers the Volkswage T-ROC. Paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, the 4-cylinder petrol engine produces 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The new model is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 202kmph.

Skoda Karoq SUV Specs

In terms of proportions, the new Skoda Karoq SUV is 4,382mm in length, 1,814mm in width and 1,605mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,638mm. The SUV has a ground clearance of 200mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. The new Skoda SUV will be offered in 6 exterior colour options – Lava Blue, Candy White, Magic Black, Quartz Grey, Brilliant Silver, Magic Black and Magnetic Brown.

The Skoda Karoq achieved 5 star safety rating in Euro NCAP. For passengers’ safety and security, the SUV gets 9 airbags, ESC, ParkTronic system, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, traction control, brake assist, hill start assist, etc.

The Karoq SUV is based on the Volkswagen Group’s versatile MQB platform that also underpins the Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan. In terms of features, the new SUV from Skoda gets full LED lighting system, 18-inch alloys, 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, virtual cockpit, leather seats, dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, and many more.
