2018 Maruti Ciaz taillight teased

One of the major updates is the new 1.5L, 4-cylinder K15B, VVT petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid technology.

Maruti Suzuki has dropped yet another teaser of the upcoming Ciaz facelift. This time around, the company revealed the LED taillight design of the sedan. Prior to its official launch, which is slated to happen on 20th August, the bookings for new Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift have been commenced across the nation. Buyers can now pre-book the car for a sum of Rs 11,000 at any Nexa dealership or only via the Nexa website. Here, we will discuss the 3 major changes the new Ciaz will receive.

1. New, More Powerful Petrol Engine

One of the major updates the new Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift will receive is the new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder K15B, VVT petrol engine with an improved SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) mild hybrid technology. The new powertrain is 12bhp more powerful and 8Nm torqueier than its replacement – i.e. 1.4L K14B unit.  While the former will make 103bhp with 138Nm, the latter delivers 91bhp with 130Nm.

The facelifted model, however, will retain the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that’s good enough for 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic.

2. India’s Most Fuel Efficient Petrol Sedan

While the official mileage figures of the new Maruti Ciaz 2018 are still under the wraps, the reports suggest its petrol model will deliver fuel economy of 21.56kmpl (MT) and 20.28kmpl (AT). With such high figures, it will become the most frugal petrol sedan in the country. Its arch rivals – Honda City and Hyundai Verna – return fuel economy of 17.4kmpl (MT) – 18kmpl (AT) and 17.70kmpl (MT) – 15.92kmpl (AT) respectively. The diesel version of the Ciaz, that will continue to use the existing motor, will offer an impressive mileage of 28.09kmpl.
