The American carmaker, Ford will soon expand its Indian product portfolio with two new SUVs and facelifts of the existing models. While the new SUVs will be developed under Ford & Mahindra collaboration and based on the new-gen XUV500 platform and SsangYong X100 platform, the Figo hatchback, Aspire sedan and Endeavour SUV will see a mid-life updates. The new Ford Figo facelift will be the first one to hit showrooms. Here’re five big changes the hatchback will receive.
1. New Petrol Engines
Major change will be made under the hood. The 2018 Ford Figo facelift will come with a new 1.5-litre petrol engine that belongs to Dragon family. The same powertrain will also be used in the Ford Aspire facelift. The new gasoline motor makes 95bhp with 115Nm of torque. The hatchback will also share the 121bhp, 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine with the EcoSport. The 99bhp, 1.5-litre TDCi diesel powertrain will be carried over from the current model. Transmission on offer will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed dual clutch unit.

2. Subtle Design Updates
The 2018 Ford Figo facelift will retain most of the design and styling bits from the pre-facelift model. Though, it will look refreshing with minor cosmetic changes including the new Mustang-inspired front grille, revised bumpers, blacked out headlamp, newly-designed taillamp and new alloy wheels. 3. Slightly Upmarket Cabin
Cabin, too, will witness subtle tweaks. The company might offer a new touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as we have seen on the EcoSport. Features such as new seat upholstery, heated front seats, new interior scheme, rear parking sensors, electronic automatic temperature control might also be on offer. 4. High On Safety
One the safety front, the 2018 Ford Figo facelift will be slightly better than the current model. The ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and engine immobilizer could be made standard across the carline. Just so you know, the Base variant of the hatchback is currently available with driver airbag, front 3 point seat belts and rear seat belts only. Ford will reveal the prices of the 2018 Figo facelift in coming months. Though, speculations suggest that it might be slightly pricier than the pre-facelift model that comes in the price range of Rs 5.61 lakh – Rs 8.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
